I would be intrested in hearing about how quantums theories applies to them, since I can't do it myself (not yet anyway).


Explaining things with only special relativity gives you some paradoxes. Since they accelerate up to those speeds, you would need at least one principle from general relativity.
But post back when you've given it a thought.

Agreed that some ideas in general relativity would be required, as both have that space/time theoretical basis. However, super speedsters would mainly be special relativity.

Though, I think you probably do understand it pretty well, if you already understand that you NEED both.
