Goldeneye remake starring Daniel Craig coming to Wii?

If you haven't you should try "The Conduit", it's actually a good game.

No, I need to check that out.

Don't get me wrong though. Goldeneye on Wii was one of the best games of the year and probably the third best Wii game of the year (behind Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Kirby). GE Wii brought the addictive nature of one of the good COD games (COD2, COD4, CODMW2) to Wii while emphasizing more stealth and Bond-ish stuff. And some of the levels were quite creative and clever in design (especially the snow level and the jungle level).

I'm kind of shocked after all this complaining about no good shooters on Wii this comes out and there is absolutely no buzz. I suppose most "hardcore" gamers (ridiculous phrase) have given up on the Wii. Oh well.

Well Wii isn't exactly the go to console when it comes to FPS but I agree, there's a few good ones if you look for them, I see that the reviews for the new GoldenEye 007 is mostly positive, if I get the chance to buy a game for my brother's Wii I'll probably buy this one.

So has anyone played this? And whats the verdict?

Several of my friends tell me it's great. I'll pick it up for nostalgic reasons...

See once upon a time I would have been thrilled for this, but with games like COD, Halo and Battlefield out there, the whole scale of multiplayer gaming has changed and it just wouldn't cut it anymore. You need at least 4 people for a good split screen sesh of Goldeneye, and I don't have the controllers for that.

Well, I'd only be picking it up for the campaign. I have less and less desire to play any kind of multiplayer anymore... more so if it's a shooter. Wait... let me correct that, more so if it's a shooter with insanely cheap players.

I'll still play games like LBP2 or maybe even Uncharted online... but when I've pretty much even cut Halo out of my online hobbies... it doesn't bode well for the rest of 'em. :p

True. Albeit, I have grown really bored with FPS. The only ones I really have played this genre are the good versions of COD (COD2, COD4, MW2, etc.). Perhaps, that is why I liked this Goldeneye. While it only occasionally offered the nostalgic kick the title promises (the first three levels, particularly the first, are chock full of visual references to the original. But after that, they're few and far between). But it plays like COD with surprisingly impressive Wii controls. The defaults suck. But if you seriously up all levels of sensitivity you have the first time I have been convinced motion control is better than dual log for shooters...albeit I never played Conduit and it is still a long way to go before motion fulfills that potential.

I was just surprised after all the anti-Wii talk from the "hardcore" set that this game is ignored. Then again, I ignored Conduit. However, I only play about 5 games a year and three of those will be on PS3. But this I recommend.

This is a great shooter. A solid 8.5 to 9.0 range (I put in the middle, with an 8.7). But if you're looking for the original Goldeneye with upgraded graphics, AI and controls...this is not it. It is more a reimagining of the original game, at least in single player. More a separate adaptation of the movie with Daniel Craig and a 2010 perspective (which makes 006's motives for going rogue much, much weaker, btw). But it is a really good shooter on par with COD2 and better than any of the Treyarch variations (though I admit to not having played Black Ops which I hear is a step up for them). And it does have a few dozen references to the original game...but half of them are in the first three levels.

As for multiplayer, I haven't played online but I hear it is surprisingly solid (despite no headsets on Wii) and the little I have gotten people to play split screen is very satisfying. Here it is much more like the original Goldeneye, with slaps only, golden gun, proximity mines, giants hands (as opposed to heads), paintball mode, etc. Sad, theres' no body armor in this mode. BTW you can go body armor mode in single player but only at 007 level (super-hard) and it is almost impossible. Otherwise the single player is more COD-like in its healing system.

A solid 8.7/10 for me, but the well publicized 9.0 at IGN is fair.

P.S. Play it with the Wii and nunchuck. It takes about 20 minutes to adapting with and I highly recommend severely altering the sensitivity levels (the defaults operate like a tank). After you master it, it is surprisingly good and probably the best controls for a shooter not named COD I have played this generation. Plus you can look around corners in a unique way that you can't do with a GCN controller. My opinion and recommendation as well.

available on amazon.com right now for $20! I just grabbed it and I'm stoked to check it out. I played the original like a fiend :D

God damn. I love this game. A lot of my friends can't get past the fact that it isnt a remake of the original. But it really does retain a lot of that Goldeneye magic.

But I can't freaking get past the first room in Cradle on 007 classic. I beat the whole game in that mode and no other mode to get the full Goldeneye effect (complete with blue body armor and the old school health indicators) but I just can't do the cradle and it's killing me.

I want to start working on the time trials but I also can't just leave cradle only beaten on Agent.
