I would hope for the best, but I feel like if Hemsworth does take He-Man (which he is probably currently the most suited to do), it will end up being his "Van Helsing" if you get what I am saying.

Yeah... I know exactly what you mean. I've heard people say Hugh Jackman lost some standing in Hollywood because after becoming a breakout star, he opted to continue doing a lot of stage work. Maybe that's true, but Van Helsing certainly couldn't have helped. That movie was ****ing awful.

I think they should stick with his usual costume. John Carter's costume was similar and people didn't seem to have a problem with it.

That's true. Also, what he's wearing in the current DC Comics series is also very good. A slight tweaking.

This movie will rise and fall on whether the greatest detective in movie history is recast. I give you Det. Lubic.

He's completely wrong for the role.

Is there anyone who's truly "right" for this role, though? I mean, I love He-Man, I'm a Club Eternia subscriber and everything, but even I know that the role is fairly silly when you get down to it. It's not like we're trying to cast Rabbit Angstrom or something.

:hehe:

The Nostalgia Critic ripped this guy apart, but he was one of the few bright spots in the movie to me. He's the EXACT same character he was in Back to the Future, only as a cop. Which makes him AWESOME.

Till the day I die I will insist that they ARE the same character.

You see, after the events of Masters of the Universe, Det. Lubic uses technology gleaned from the cosmic key to fight evil throughout space and time, under the guise of The Mighty Spector.

After a little while, he tires of this life, so he changes his name to Strickland and decides to become a high school principal in both 1955 and 1985 (thereby explaining his lack of visible ageing between both time periods).

Meanwhile, the spunky Julia Winston becomes a psychology major who eventually dates Marty McFly. When he gets a job on Wall Street, she eventually follows him and moves to New York City with her paleantologist brother to be in a Bruce Springsteen video and then to become a chef. Then she gets divorced and becomes a self-destructive alcoholic in Florida.

The role is silly so lets just cast anyone.:whatever:

If you want Adam/He-Man sounding like an urban kid from the streets than by all means cast Tatum.

To me the only guy who I can think of right now who can pull it off is Hemsworth. I mean that doesn't mean he's the only one, just off the top of my head. A guy who can do both the look and the performance not that it would take a lot to perform He-Man.

However, I don't think Hemsworth would want to do it since he already has Thor. I think Hemsworth will want to do some more varied roles now inbetween Thor/Avengers like his Ron Howard biopic about the race car driver.

But to pull off He-Man you basically need a Hemsworth type. Him be buffed out and beefcake as He-Man, but just dress him down and make him look smaller as Adam. Shouldn't be too hard. Doesn't have to be a huge, gigantic change. Just make it like Clark Kent to Superman from the Richard Donner movies.

Thing is, the screenwriters don't get how to do this. They don't understand that the transformation is a crucial part of this character and why children love He-Man, Power Rangers, and many other things. I went to a Robert Rodriguez QnA once and he talked about why kids loved Power Rangers and basically he said kids as they get older, their bodies are changing (transforming) as well. And not only that, the kids in Power Rangers are people not much older than them and given super powers so the kid viewers are empowered and inspired from watching the show. With He-Man its the same thing. It's not just Prince Adam transforming into He-Man, but the kid viewers by association and they feel like and want to be He-Man.

Hemsworth has already got Thor and the Huntsman. I doubt he'll pick another "strongman" role especially one so close in vibe to Thor.

Hire Hemsworth's twin brother :) . He was screen tested for Thor as well.

Unfortunately this is the type of role Hemsworth will likely be typecast in for his whole career.

Or how about someone we've never heard of just like Hemsworth and Hammer once were.

Trust me, after the Lone Ranger, Hammer will be anonymous too.

I care more about a strong script than whether or not Hemsworth plays the hero. Hemsworth was just some guy before he bulked up to play Thor. They can audition some strapping young dude and put him on a 4-month regimen of protein and wood chips. Hemsworth isn't one of a kind. I'm not worried about that.

There have to be two different actors for He-Man and Adam. A teenage-looking boy for the latter.
The transformation is so important. It's a core element of Masters. But I think he should only yell out "By the power of Greyskull" once during the film.
Why not William Mosely, or Rhys Wakefield as Adam?
If they go younger, maybe Dakota Goyo and Nathan Gamble can be candidates for the part.

DawnWarrior, there could definitely be a guy out there that fits the He-Man mold.

I'm just saying a Hemsworth type as he's the best living physical reference we have out there for a He-Man archetype.

I certainly agree that a Hemsworth-type would be a great fit, as a He-Man movie would (and probably should) invite comparisons to Thor.

Ironically, the actual plot of Thor does have some similarities to the fish-out-of-water antics of the original MOTU film and other crappy late-80s and early-90s fantasy adventures of that ilk. Its amazing they got away with it so well.

Cool.

I think Jeremy Sumpter would be a good Adam to match up with Hammer as He-Man.
