Sorry, but I don't agree with Sumpter. My suggestions could be better, but we have to wait and see.

Now we can discuss one character at a time. And we'll start with Teela. Ok?

Who should play her?

Jeremy Sumpter.

Amanda Righetti?

Amanda Righetti?

If we're using the 2002 reboot as the template for the movie, then it should be someone younger. Like late teens to mid twenties. I like Amanda Righetti in The Mentalist, but she's a little too mature to play a teenaged Teela.

How about the girl who played Katniss in The Hunger Games? She was pretty good in that movie, and is still not such a big name as to demand an enormous salary for the role. While at the same time having a fanbase that could aid in the success of the movie.

Jennifer Lawrence. Not sure if she will want to do something like MOTU after striking gold with Hunger Games.

Yeah, Jennifer Lawrence might not be interested in something like this, especially since she's attached to two franchises (Hunger Games and X-Men). But if she was... hell yeah, she'd make an awesome Teela. I'd support that in full and if an actress of her caliber signed on, that would be an indication that the movie might be quality.

Casting Teela is a hard one.
But what about King Randor? I think Stellan Skarsgård could work. But in the look department, we need someone with a brown beard.

Randor should be an older, chunky, built badass. Skarsgard? Nah, just don't see it.

Not as obvious as Dolph for King Grayskull.

I see where you are coming from. See it depends on whether Teela has that inevitable sexual tension (C'mon, don't act like there won't be any) with He-Man (Something I prefer) or Adam and their corresponding ages. He-man would almost definitely be a guy closer to his 30s and I don't have any particular good choice for Adam but that is my logic behind suggesting Amanda.

Of course this discussion would be moot if Adam is done away with (also something I can agree with though I don't particularly mind them doing otherwise too).

I could support Dolph showing up in a cameo as King Grayskull as a nice nod to the fans. But I haven't seen him shirtless lately. Is he still in shape? I mean it's not the 80's anymore and he ain't Grace Jones boyfriend no more.

I'd like to see a really fit, strong looking chick to play Teela and not like a delicate flower. Like a girl that's built, not like roided out but you know in many ways a physical equal to He-Man.

I think for Randor you need a good "actor" type and I'm just not sure Lundgren would be good for that. Sort of like when you got Marlon Brando as Jor-El or Anthony Hopkins as Odin.

Well in the 2002 reboot, the sexual tension was with Teela and both He-Man AND Adam. Thus I figure they could probably do something similar in the movie. Maybe make Adam and Teela both 18 years old instead of 16. Then when Adam becomes He-Man, he appears to be 25-30 years old. Thus the perceived age difference would be less "taboo". After all, women that age tend to seek out older men all the time.

In junior high the girls were all dating guys in high school. In high school the girls were all dating guys in university. In university they all dated guys who have already graduated. It might not happen ALL the time, but it happens enough to allow a little grace period for script writers.

No to Dolph Lundgren as Randor. It wouldn't work at all.
But there is any character for him to play, it should be King Greyskull.
But feel free to give other suggestions for that character as well.

Interesting thing this "cameo by 1987 actors". Frank Langella is being mentioned several times regarding this. But who should he be, if not Skeletor?

Hordak, Horde Prime, or the Faceless One.

Or, the wizard-looking guy who is the head of the Eternian Council of Elders.

That one. :woot:

I don't care much about cameos from the '87 movie. Even if that movie hadn't been made, I'd still want to see Dolph as Grayskull.

On another note, how should the movie start? What should be the first scene to hook the audience?

Personally, I think an adaptation of the first 4 or 5 episodes of the 2002 series would make for an awesome movie. I'd probably add a bit more backstory, like exactly how Randor's half brother Keldor wound up being only half human. Was mother unfaithful to father? Was she raped during war time? Was she widowed then remarried? Then show a bit about Randor's and Keldor's childhoods, explaining exactly how Keldor grew up to be evil. Then his leading his forces against his half brother and the defenders. Then from there on it's pretty much like the show was.

Langella as the voice of Hordak could be a great thing. But I want to see his face this time.
What about having the third 1987 actress, Courtney Cox, there too? She could be Sorceress, or she could do some voice-over stuff.
Any other suggestions for Sorceress?

With that say, I really want the film to explore the Randor/Keldor relationship. The first 20 minutes can be about that, how Keldor was lured into sorcery by an unseen war lord (Hordak) and how young soldiers Duncan and yet-to-be-king Randor drove the traitors away.

Flackbacks with Greyskull would also be cool. But I doubt Hollywood would will do any of this. They are going straight for a popcorn-flic

Courtney Cox can play Lush-a, a member of She-Ra's rebels who is drunk all the time.

I think Langella is a little too old at this point for Hordak. Maybe have him as Horde Prime or a fun cameo role.

I had already mentioned the backstory of Randor & Keldor, and totally agree. I could do without the King Greyskull flashbacks though. They would be cool, but aren't really necessary.

If you wanna give Courtney Cox a role in the new MOTU movie, what about Evil-Lyn? I think she could make a very convincing evil sorceress, and you'll get that little nod to the '87 film. And Langella being the voice of Horde Prime is also a pretty good idea.

While they're likely to want to make it a popcorn movie, that doesn't necessarily mean they'll cut the build up of Randor & Keldor.

He's leaner than he was circa 1987 but not "out of shape".

Plus if the flashback shows King Grayskull's final battle with Hordak, which is what I would wanna see, it would be okay if Grayskull is a little older and not quite in the prime of life.
