Grayskull: Masters of the Universe - Part 2

Masters of the Universe shares some similarities with Avengers, doesn't it?
I mean, the most unique people on the planet (not regurlar royal guards) team up to take down the big baddie. The same can be said about Skeletor, except his allies are bad guys and not heroes.
Not saying that Man-At-Arms is this planet's Nick Fury, but... I've just saw some far-fetched comparison. Sorry for that.

BTW, why is the team of warriors called Masters of the Universe? They aren't from different worlds, only Eternia.

the name was originally about the villains and who controlled grayskull, essentially controlled the universe.

as much as i think his story has far to many mary sue aspects scott neitlich has managed to develop a way to brin all the aspects into the story and make it seem grander

It depends. In the Filmation cartoon, it is implied that Trap Jaw, Tri Klops, Evil Lyn and Mer Man are from other planets. Orko is from another dimension (whatever that means) and He-Man and She-Ra are technically half-alien, with an Earth-born mother.

In the 200X continuity, all the various races appear to be native to Eternia. However, you could argue that so many sapient species developing on one planet would be almost impossible, and that some alien seeding had to occur ...

Have we brought up everything we wanna see in this film?
Maybe time to discuss a sequel?

I wanna see Kobra Khan smooth-talking Skeletor into releasing the Snake Men. Then he betrays him and joins King Hiss.
But how should Kobra Khan be introduced? I have an idea. After Skeletor has been defeated in the first film, he sits alone in Snake Mountain. In the after-credits sequence, we see KK walking out of the shadows and say there's still hope for the evil to rise. This is something very pre-Avengers-esque, but I think it will work.

Skeletor should also have some new henchmen: Ninjor, Blade, Clawful and Spikor. What's happened to the others, I don't know. They've either been killed in battle, or been inprisoned.

Here's how I would proceed:

Movie 1: Rise of Skeletor
Movie 2: Return of Skeletor, introduction of Snakemen close to the end
Movie 3: Snakemen return to Eternia, betraying Skeletor. Skeletor allies with the heroes, but gains the "bright idea" to use his magic to bring back the one force that has achieved victory over the Snakemen before ...
Movie 4: Hordak and the Evil Horde return to Eternia and successfully conquer the planet. Hope remains though, with some hints to the past and a lost member of the Eternian royal family
Movie 5: Discovery of She-Ra and the defeat of evil once and for all

Paul Wight is huger. :D

True, but then you know there's gonna be people whining "But he's a wrestler! I don't want any wrestlers in this movie! That'll just suck!"

Just watch . . .

Chris Masters = He-Man

Paul White = Ram Man

*in my Darth Vader voice* Impressive, most impressive.

Movie 6: All the continuity of the last 5 movies gets thrown in the trash, and He-Man becomes an astronaut and fights guys with names like Slushhead.

Amazing artwork there, CGHulk! I like it a lot, especially Stratos. He looks so strange and non-human, but still very much like a man.
Man-At-Arms is cool too, a tough guy.
Do people here think that every hero should have a match-up on the evil side? And who is it for M-A-A? Tri-Klops? If so, who will win the fight?

Something else I would like to discuss about a possible sequel. Is King Hiss as powerful as Skeletor? Or is there something else that makes him a bigger threat than him? It has to be something, because things will heat up more in a second film. Two warlords at the same time, and also more warriors could be an answer.
Hm, talking about warriors, I think Fisto should fight Jitsu here. We already have a martial arts character in Ninjor (i suggested him), so why not more of that stuff?

Hey guys, what did you think about my after-credits sequence that introduced Kobra Khan in a Nick Fury-esque way?

When it comes down to that, I used to pair Duncan against Beast-Man, but more recently I'd say Man-At-Arms vs. Trap Jaw, since they're both tech guys. Beast man can fight Stratos since they're both animal men. And I usually put Tri-Klops against Mekanek since they're the surveillance guys.

The 2002 cartoon made Tri-Klops the evil Man-At-Arms/ Genius inventor character.

I would say King Hiss is more powerful than Skeletor, and Snake Mountain was originally his castle.

Right now they are "working on a script" so who knows. It's pretty much in the same stage it was at Warner Bros. for several years before their option expired and they set it up at Sony.

A movie like this is going to be expensive and in case you guys haven't noticed Sony has been struggling as of late. And not only have they been struggling . . . the Masters franchise has as well for the last decade. I mean it's a niche fanbase and most of the relaunches have failed unlike Transformers, GI JOE, etc.

Maybe after they see the success of The Hobbit, they'll take the risk and gamble on a MOTU movie.

I want the sequel to have Moss-Man and Stinkor clash off.

Not only that, but I think Moss-Man will bring something to the table here. He's been a part of nature for centuries, and I guess he's pretty pised off of Snake Men and how they polluted the planet.
I think there's a huge difference between the villains in MOTU. Skeletor surely wants the power of Greyskull and to rule as a dictator over all universe. But could King Hiss be worse than that? Maybe he want power and destruction, and doesn't care if there's anything left to rule as a leader?

I don't see what that has anything to do with it. Lord of the Rings trilogy already happened and was a gigantic hit. Hobbit's part of the Lord of the Rings so I mean . . . I don't see what they are waiting for there.

Maybe they thought the LOTR Trilogy's success was a fluke. If lightning strikes twice with The Hobbit, that'll prove them wrong.

The general failure of the SW Prequels might be causing hesitation as well. Sure they made money at the BO, but virtually everyone thinks they suck and Lucas raped their childhoods. They want to avoid getting the same reaction.

I think three movies and each one doing more than the last is more than a fluke. Plus it was based on one of the most beloved pieces of literature ever.

He-Man is just a toyline that was really huge and popular in the 1980's. Maybe they think He-Man's popularity in the 1980's was a fluke.

Unfortunately, He-Man's viability will be determined less by The Hobbit and more by GI Joe and John Carter.

IMO, people overestimate the appeal of MoTU, it is just Conan in space.
One movie will be made, the success will be mediocre at best and that will be all.
That being said, I only know the 80' version of MoTU and from what I've read on SHH the new version ( both comic and cartoon ) was popular in the US.

The comparison isn't fair but look what happened to the new Thundercats cartoon, it get cancelled after one season and that was also a beloved 80' show.
