i have zero faith with McG at the helm anytime someone of mcg, ratner, wisemen, etc are attached to a project you know its crap

mcg is the epitome of a director for hire

As much as I love He-Man, Masters of the Universe, the history, the universe and such, I fear that perhaps the property is just too outdated and bygone to succeed as a modern movie.

It can totally be updated if done by the right person. Though it sucks that whoever gets the starring role wont have to be half naked wearing the original outfit, that'll totally be updated.

Considering I'm probably one of two people on the planet Earth who actually thought Terminator Salvation was good.... I'm okay with McG directing.

He's a better choice than Jon M. Chu (we've seen what he may have done via Jem), and at least sounds very excited. And it can't be any worst than it would have been under all the other directors who have been attached.

Not really. I say cast He-Man first, then get some new kid who kinda looks like him. Probably cast Shazam/Billy Batson the same way.

I want to believe that, but I'm just not sure. Not to mention, everyone is walking on eggshells. And then people will complain about the portrayal of female characters, lack of diversity, sexism, etc.

Guess I'm the other one! :D

you personally dont have much choice really. You are basically forced between that lvl of film actors who can match he-man look (but not acting), and couple of wrestlers (Cena?). And for that you need really great director who can work magic around that. Even if you get better actor to sign a deal he just wont be he-man from physical stand point of view. And ofcourse there is point of script, director and studio willing to spend. Not anyone will sign on this kind of project. Certainly not guy like Tom Hardy for example who could embody both of the worlds.

And I basically dont see next Cavill or Evans, guys who would be willing look to transform their bodies for this role and become this icon.

And even worse there is sadly no next Arnold. Like he did Conan back in the day.

The only thing I can probably be sure of is that the **** will look faithful to the cartoon. He won't skimp on the budget. The writing however....

It will look like a cartoon, I'll give you that...

i'd personally go after Alexander Skarsgard who is 6'4 and pretty damn built and is a solid actor

Yeah, I always thought he was a bit too lanky for a role like that, but dude was jacked as s#!% as Tarzan. The only question is if he'd be willing to pack on the muscle again so soon. And it wouldn't be too hard to find a similar-looking younger actor for Adam.

I gotta agree with him as well. Either would be great, but I've been pulling for Heughan for awhile.

Skarsgard is kind of old for He-Man at this point. Sam Heughan is 36.

Just saying. You have to think about the Adam aspect.

Think about it how? Whether Adam is portrayed as a teen or early 20s, He-Man looks like a completely separate full-grown badass.

Except they still going to want to cast someone younger in the role. There's also no proof if they make the movie they would cast two separate actors as Adam and He-Man.

I get ya. They're of course gonna have an eye towards casting for multiple films.

Whatever they go with, I still maintain that casting Adam and casting He-Man are two separate things. :ftc:

I'd be down with either of those dudes, especially since it doesn't look like we'll get a Tarzan sequel and Skaragard was great in that film.

But still... McG. Ugh. And Vile, I know you made the argument on the previous page that studios probably find him reliable, but he was also the guy who jumped ship on making a Superman movie right before it was about to go into production because he supposedly didn't want to get on a plane. I'm sure there's a lot more to that story but regardless... It sounds like he's a bit flaky. Or at least he was.

I don't think it will matter who they cast age wise because I seriously doubt they'll have to wait around for a sequel.

**** MCGs vision. The dude sucks, we have all seen his work and its pretty terrible.

Grayskull is a property that totally has the potential to be something better than the typical forgettable mini blockbuster in between all the other junk.

I wont get into posting images again but a great He Man movie could be like Fury Road and LOTR combined.

McG has proven him self as a dud director. Lets stop settling for less and demand the best, we pay enough for it.

While Skarsgard may be 39, it's what he looks like and what shape he is in. The guy can pass for 30 which is fine to be He Man in my book.
