Grayskull: Masters of the Universe - Part 2

**** MCGs vision. The dude sucks, we have all seen his work and its pretty terrible.

Grayskull is a property that totally has the potential to be something better than the typical forgettable mini blockbuster in between all the other junk.

I wont get into posting images again but a great He Man movie could be like Fury Road and LOTR combined.

McG has proven him self as a dud director. Lets stop settling for less and demand the best, we pay enough for it.

Agree with all of this. He's awful. He's never made a good movie; I think his career peaked with the first Charlie's Angels film (which sucked, but it wasn't in Worst Movie of All Time territory like the second one). He even made a movie with Tom Hardy in it suck, something I didn't think possible unless we're talking about that Star Trek film.

After Stephen Sommers made GI Joe, he basically became Hollywood's version of anthrax, and deservedly so. But at least the first couple Mummy movies were enjoyable, which is more than I can say for anything McG has done. I don't know why this *****e keeps getting second chances. If only he had pulled a Josh Trank sometime in like 2003 and then maybe we'd never have to worry about him being attached to any worthwhile property again.

Isn't there supposed to be a He-Man/Thundercats crossover later this year in the comics? I'd be more hyped for that than this right now.

Yeah, that's actually happening. This movie? Who knows if it will ever get made.

Sounds like fun. They should throw the Silverhawks in while they're at it, Lord knows the Silverhawks need some love beyond just being "that show that wasn't Thundercats."

And throw in Marshall Bravestarr and the Galaxy Rangers just so Skeletor can complain about being out of their jurisdiction.

Now if we can just get an Exo-Squad meets Robotech crossover up & running... just because.

No they shouldn't. Let's start with Masters of the Universe/Thundercats and go from there.

Also the 2011 Thundercats was a good show for what it was.

In other news, the new hardcover He-Man & She-Ra: The Complete Guide to the Classic Animated Adventures comes out this week. And then He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: A Character Guide and World Compendium comes out in May.

I enjoy the Dark Horse compendium books, so I will probably get the character guide compendium.

One thing I actually like a lot about MOTU is that it has this pretty rich and interesting lore it's built up over the years. I find that fascinating. It's a world as rich and drawn out at this point as a lot of literature series.

Even the original mini-comics IMHo are solid stories because they are really just classic sword and sorcery pulp adventure stories, just skewing slightly younger. They are just illustrated short stories with no word balloons. They didn't get the traditional word balloon comic style until later.

So McG is still working? Will wonders never cease.

Yeah, but THIS time it'll happen! Really! For real! :whatever:

Haven't they set a date for this movie before?

Is he still on this project? Please gawd no!

I have only just starter watching parks and rec (late to the game) but I now get the love for Chris Pratt....so here I go doing what I've seen everyone else doing for a long time...Chris Pratt for He-Man directed by David Gordon Green.

Mostly kidding though

I still a want my frazzetta/fury road stylised greyskull film.

First attached early last year, it now looks like “Charlie’s Angels” and “Terminator: Salvation” director McG is out of the running to direct the “Masters of the Universe” reboot at Sony Pictures.
EW has confirmed McG has departed the project and Sony is now meeting with directors to find a replacement. They also confirm that “Man of Steel” and “Batman Begins” scribe David S. Goyer is writing the screenplay for the tentpole feature based on the He-Man toyline and animated series.
Casting is also underway with numerous actors and A-list vying for key roles. That probably means Kellan Lutz is out, the “Twilight” actor tweeted last June of an ‘amazing meeting’ with McG and producer Mary Viola and McG in a later interview said he was under serious consideration. With McG gone, it’s unclear how much of a chance Lutz has now – in fact until a new director is set don’t expect any names you hear to be more than speculation.

Glad to see him go tbh, he's a hack.

Not sure who would be my casting pick for He-Man. Hemsworth would have been an obvious contender if not for Thor.

What about Trevor Donovan, I know of him but never seen him in anything - can he act? He's 6"2 and certainly has the look and build.

Well, alright then.

I just really wonder how far Sony Pictures goes with this. I mean...look...it is Sony Pictures. They aren't exactly hitting a lot of homeruns of late.

In 2017, you can't do a movie like this on the cheap. Will they really be willing to spend $150 million+ on this after Ghostbusters?

And look, I'm a true blue Masters of the Universe fan. At the same time, I'm well aware that the property might be a little dated and a product of its times. Can they really update it so audiences will want to give it a look? I don't want to hear all these dumb discussions that dominate the media around He-Man.

Chris Hemsworth for He-Man, because he can only play these types. :o
