I think this could be a big hit. They need a director with a real knack for visuals though, that is key...

I've never been a fan...

This movie requires a huge budget... that's the tricky part. No one wants to shell out the money because it could be a huge failure.

I think taking visual cues from Fury Road and Frazetta combined with 300 and Sin City with the scale and fun of Star Wars would make for an epic film. Big Practical sets and prosthetics for the monster characters.

I gotta look at McG's filmography again, 'cause I'm still stuck on Charlie's Angels, and that's not fair to the guy. Let's see...

We Are Marshall. Didn't see that but heard good things.
Terminator Salvation. That ain't good.
This Means War. Ugh.
3 Days to Kill. Didn't see it.
That's pretty much it for movies. He directs TV pilots sometimes too.

Not much to look forward to as far as I can see.

I'd be surprised if this movie ever gets made with Mcg as director.

It's baffling how hard it is to green light this, Johnny Quest, Voltron, and a Jetsons movie.

No, it's not that hard. The people in charge just behave like it is, to hide the fact that they have very little interest in MOTU. It's not one of their priority projects, if you know what I mean.

IF Hasbro does merge with Mattel, it'll speed things up a bit. But Mattel seems to have cold feet when it comes to adapting their stuff.

The McG news killed my interest in this film. It's like...magic! :(

They filmed live-action Max Steel movie that never got released.

I just had this random idea: Eternia's got it's space-age tech sprinkled over this medieval-type world, right? So what if most of the tech looked like it was literally made in the 1980s?

That would have to be a stylistic design choice for the filmmakers. I guess it just depends on what you mean by 1980s tech.

Specifically, there are props and design elements from the 1987 film that I think are sort of lost on more modern films. Just look at Skeletor. That's pretty cool costume. I like the LED lights on it and stuff. Like all that detail on his costume was made in a costume or makeup shop. All of it was there on set.

I thought Dredd 3D it was interesting that lot of the tech looked like futuristic tech from the 1980s. Like it was as if the nuclear wars that started the cursed earth happened in the 1980s and technological development was sort of stuck in that era.

The 80s look is an interesting idea. It would be a sort of retro futuristic element to the film.
Should the costumes and armor be the same?

What about casting some brat packs and other 80s names as the older characters?
Christian Slater as Skeletor (not completely meant as a joke)?

"Hey, Goat Man, I was thinking we don't really belong in this painting. I mean, what are we, 5th tier, 6th tier henchmen?"

"Don't overthink it Strongarm, just lie back and enjoy our time in the limelight."

Definitely go for an 80's scifi/actioner but would need someone really creative at the helm.

I had hoped for Peter Jackson.

But if there's is someone else out there, who loves MOTU as much as PJ loves LOTR, someone who also have the Jackson eye for the epic and the visual, then he/she must be the director and also be the creative power behind this film.

I just got this idea about the casting of Adam and Adora.

First off, it's hard enough trying to cast Adam and He-Man, so of course it's not necessarily practical to cast Adam with an eye towards also casting Adora. It's not even 100% certain that Prince Adam will be in the movie (although he should be, if the filmmakers know what's good for them. :cwink:)

Anyway, I got to thinking about The Vampire Diaries and the characters of Luke and Liv (played by Chris Brochu and Penelope Mitchell).

These witchy twins came into the story towards the end of season 5 (not long before I quit watching), and I realized that these look a helluva lot like how I imagine Adam and Adora would look. Of course, they're at an age where casting them would only work if they filmed "Secret of the Sword" tomorrow.

Then, while I was looking them up, I came across another pair who just turned 18 today.

That's Peyton and Spencer List. They really are twins, and they've been acting since they were kiddies. They could do worse, right? And it'd be a hoot if among the thousands of young pretty boys in the running for Adam, they land on one with an actual twin sis.

Now again, it's impractical to try and cast both of these characters when they'd first show up on film years apart. But this might be the first time that I've been able to picture so clearly what the actors playing the royal twins would look like. Also that casting Adam & Adora suddenly looks a lot easier than casting Adam & He-Man.

Just felt like sharing. :mnm:
