I look at a line of movies that have surpassed the trilogy mark and still hold weight.

Star Wars (though the new gen sucked, the saga holds well with other mediums still strong with video games and toys and everything else)

James Bond
Indiana Jones
Back to the Future

No to Star Wars, yes to the rest; plus the Die Hard, Batman, and Halloween franchises.

The Batman Franchise was at an ok after Forever (even though that too sucked ass), but it died after Clooney and this is a whole new one now so we can't count it.

Die Hard is a damn almost perfect one. Hasn't had a bad one yet. Halloween franchise kinda sucked.

Eh, the Batman franchise never died.

And I think Halloween is one of the better horror franchises.

It did...Clooney's ended it and it got revived in a new era of cinema. That other one died and it was pretty horrible after Burton and Keaton left.

Guess these threads never go away... when all is said and done...

Best Franchise: Lord of the Rings series (No doubt in my mind... Del Toro will nail it and solidify the series as a classic from 1-5)

Most Successful: Harry Potter (8 films... 800-900 million nearly every time out... easy money in the bag... damn Rowling is one rich MILF).

My personal favorite: Indiana Jones... (hated the fourth... left an extremely sour taste in my mouth... but the first three are sensational... the Star Wars prequels were three poor films instead of one bad film so Indy still stays number 1 in my book. Still gotto give props mostly to Lucas for as much flack as he gets because these are still my favorites... although LOTR might rise to the top depending on these prequels)

I loved Indy 4 cause I'm into that ancient history stuff and the whole X files thing they had with it. "Depends on what God you worship" or whatever Indy said exactly is one of my best lines in a movie ever cause it shut down religion...YES!!!!! Anyway Sure Star Wars isn't the most successful? With all the toys and video games and everything?

James Bond
Indiana Jones
Star Wars
The Lord of the Rings

Yeah true... I mean Star Wars changed the culture. That will probably have the longer lasting appeal more so than Potter.

IMO,the following are the greatest movie franchises:Batman,if you don't count Batman Forever and Batman and Robin
-Saw
-Terminator
-Star Wars (the none prequel ones)
-Rambo

James Bond, Back to the Future, Batman, and Harry Potter. Not Star Wars, I hate them I don't get the appeal for those movies. :o

Indiana Jones
Back to the Future
Star Wars

If I had to choose one franchise, personally for me, its Indiana Jones. I've been so interested in archeology and what Godman said, yeah. Im interested in that stuff too. Always been!

Star Wars
Indiana Jones
Back to the Future
Batman (B89, BR, excluding BF and B&R, including BB and TDK)

Greatest? Lord of the rings.

Most successful? Saw

First 4 saw films together cost 25 million to make.

First 4 saw films made 550 million worldwide.

The greatest imo: Star Wars

Other great franchises:
- The Godfather
- Indiana Jones
- Lord of the Rings

'Evil Dead' franchise/trilogy, 'Evil Dead', 'Evil Dead 2' and 'Army of Darkness', the most entertaining and continuely giving horror/comedy franchise of all-time, that's why I'm always wishing for a fourth since Bruce Campbell is still as awesome as he was back in the glory days.

LOTR, Bourne, and Indiana Jones. All solid to great movies.

Bond, Star Wars, every comic book franchise, they all have their stinkers.
