Greatest Rock Band Of All Time???

Led Zeppelin is the best band that ever was and the best band that will ever be. :csad:

I'm always suspicious of people who say they are fans of Led Zepplin. Half the time people who know absolutley nothing about music simply pull up the name of a popular band, like Zep, and are like "Yeah! Led Zepplin! Yeahhh!"

By the way - my favorite rock band is Motorhead.

okay.
1) You can't love Led Zeppelin and not "know anything about music", because by definition, Led Zeppelin produced the best music in human history, so if you like it, you must at least have an innate, rudimentary understanding of what makes one piece of music superior to another.

2) I hardly think Led Zeppelin is a "knee-jerk" "popular" band. If a musically ignorant person were to "simply pull up a name of a popular band", wouldn't it more likely be a band like Metallica, or U2, or Green Day, or Korn, or Audioslave, or Jessica Simpson?

3) I hope you weren't thinking of me when you posted that because I am a musical genius. I played Symphony Hall in Salt Lake City Utah when I was 15. The reason I started playing guitar was because one day I heard the Immigrant Song on the radio and wanted to feel the feeling of not only hearing that song, but playing it.
I can play every Jimmy page solo (from the albums and How The West Was Won at least) note-for-note, because to me Jimmy Page is God and his music is my religion.

4) Rush has 2 good songs, Geddy Lee's voice is horrifying, Alex Lifeson is often inventive but still a very limited guitarist and Neil "roto-tom" Peart is a vast repository of raw talent but has no soul, and he's one of the most pretentious, embarrasing lyricists who ever lived.

[end rant]

But do you know anything about the band?

I know that Bonzo pooed in Jimmy's girlfriend's shoe.
And Jimmy summoned the Loch Ness Monster at Boleskine house and rode it to Bron-Yr-Aur with a trippy rainbow sword so he could find the bridge. *shrug*

Maybe, but I was more impressed by the "musical genius" line. I'm convinced.

Unlike Danalys, I don't throw the word "genius" around lightly. :)

I know you weren't talking to me but I've got to say, if I like a band, I will find out everything there is to know about them.

Great post. You left out that Rush are the biggest *******s in rock. They're very rude to their fans. I can understand Peart since he went through many personal tragedies, but other than that, no.
