Green Arrow series in the works at The CW

DC usually doesn't take any inspiration from mainstream at all. Really, the last thing i can remember DC being inspired by outside Comics would be Batman's armor having a "realistic" feel to it.

Yeah, but they should this time.

Haha. Colin Donnell reminds me of the gay version of John Hamm.

He does seem like a capable actor though, from the one episode of Pan Am I saw.

My big issue with the Wonder Woman costume was both that it looked like a cheap halloween costume and that the first image of it looked like an advertisement for... a cheap halloween costume.

First of all, I'm hoping that the costume actually looks good. But second, I'm hoping that they can keep the costume under wraps for all of filming, and that the first image of Amell in costume is actually a still or an action shot. Less Wonder Woman and more, lets say, the first time we saw Bale in costume for BB.

I completely agree with the wonder woman costume. There are talented costume designers out there that would probably do some amazing work. I don't know why its so hard to make a good superhero costume for tv. Granted for some heroes it comes down to money.

For me the only problem with green arrow is that he has never had a great costume to begin with. I did like the new 52 costume in jim lee's sketch, but its been going downhill ever since.

I'm keeping my expectations low because they managed to mess up wonder woman. Which as a costume required very little material and they couldnt even spend the money to make a high quality corset.

Hopefully they release of pic like Man of Steel where you don't really get to see the full costume in detail.

I can't wait to see arrow costume. I hope it does take some ques from current/modern comics look. Heck if it ends up a bit like sv one I would be happy with it. Sv one was one of there better made costumes.

So what do folks think they will do with the tommy character. Make him a son of arther merlyn the green arrow villain. Or make him into merlyn just a new story/history.

He'll obviously "become" Merlyn. There's no use making the real Merlyn his father if there's no rivalry with the Green Arrow. That's what defines Merlyn.

I kinda like the idea that Ollie and Merlyn were friends once, but Merlyn has been up to godknowswhat in the 5 years Ollie's been gone.

How does the Green Arrow get around anyway? I'm not very familiar with the character.

It always looked to me like Green Arrow did a lot of legging, swinging, and parkouring to get around Star City in the comics. I imagine it wasn't that big for a city.

Of course, back in the Fancy Days of Comics Past (aka the Golden Age), he had an Arrow Car or something.

Recently, he just walks. I've seen him in a motorcycle from times to times, though.

Probably should give him some kind of ride. All I know about Star City is that it has docks, so, the location is pretty vague.

Sounds like motorcycle is the way to go.

We will probably see parkour as amell has mentioned he is training. Probably ziplining once in awhile. And I bet they have him use a cycle from time to time.

It would be cool if they gave him a motorcycle. Just hope they come up with a unique design even though that may be asking for too much. I picture something similar to the tron cycles without the lights.

Really this show has the potential to be cool because he has the money to have a lot of great gadgets like bond, batman and iron man. Thats a very appealing start when people think they could actually become the character.

They'll probably stick with the parkour for him to get around in though.

Also, where do you guys think he'll have his base of operations, penthouse or some other hideout?

I'd love if he got some kind of black sports car. Especially since we didn't get a sports car model Batmobile in the Nolan films.

Something armored and sleek, with tons of cool gadgets.

Well, in the beginning, he had an Arrow-Cave.

Recently, his base of operations was his mansion, and he had a safe house at a small apartment in Star City's poor area in case his headquarters was compromised.

After he became an outlaw and an outcast between other superheroes for killing Prometheus, he acted from the Sherwood Forest in the area of Star City that was destroyed by a bomb made by Prometheus, that the White Light of Creation made in order to fight off the darkness, which had taken the form of Swamp Thing.

Another thought I had, there is also the chance tommy could end up being actual arthur merlyn. As we saw with sv, when they where casting roles or in early development if they didn't have rights yet. They altered name/character a bit. So would be interesting if tommy does end up becoming arthur.

I can see they were trying to mimic Batman. Though he is a multi-millionaire, so a mansion does kind of make sense.

I guess they could set the story on a star shaped city-covered island, like Manhattan. Though the star shaped central park is neat.

The easiest. Thing would probbably be like sv did when they first brought in olliie. A penthouse hideout, and a hidden garage for any wheels he has..

An underground base would be cool. It doesn't have to be a cave per say.

CTU in 24 was an underground base as well.


I'm intrigued by the approach to this show. It does sound like their wisely going the realistic route, like DC's Human Target.

Based on Merlyn and the villain of the premiere, it sounds like Green Arrow will be fighting human villains... no supervillains, freak of the weeks or metahumans.

Sounds like a smart move.
