Green Arrow series in the works at The CW

Sometimes I don't understand the logic of some posters. They announce a series based on green arrow and right away they are already thinking of what other heroes can be brought in during the first season.
Did I say that I wanted Elongated Man during the first season? NO!

Not to sound rude, but what green arrow fans? The ones that do exist aren't enough to sustain a tv show when they barely read the comic book.

I'm fine with them taking a different direction with the series. If they want to go with a more realistic direction I'm fine with that. Its worked wonders for batman, no matter how many fans complain.

Don't get me wrong I don't want an absolute realistic approach because that will get boring, but the more you ground it in reality and the less you have magical elements will probably be the way to go with this series.

I find spider-man to be in that realistic approach because they explain things, no matter how flawed, through science.

Yeah, that's kinda why I mentioned Smallville, which had loads of Green Arrow fans. You're gonna have about 2 million CW viewers who are familiar with a character who is relatively similar to his comic counterpart, but then the CW change everything about him in nearly every way, which is what I thought was said, but was actually a misinterpretation anyway.

I still say if we get guest heroes in time bearing show's success i still rather see the likes of some of the more street level guys the question, wildcat, sandman, and a few others i dont really know to much about. But Would be great if like smallville we got folks like flash/martian manhunter and the likes, minus the ones ie ww/bats/supes/possibly gl offlimits. For me i like it be that they make mention that "capes" exist in the show's world. So like sv we see an expanded universe forming. Wouldnt really hurt anything to the show if for example newspaper clippings mention some thing in some x dc city, to allued to x person exist in this show's universe. But if any hero appears in first season i would go more for black canery first. Since we are having a dinah in the show. Then go around with one of the ideas i said about taking normal dinah and turning her into a costumed viliginate wouldnt be that hard of a thing. Then in time bring in speedy/red arrow so we could get a bit out of the green arrow family of characters.

I don't want guest heroes at all. I'm just curious why someone would want Elongated Man over Plastic Man.

Well i dont see the harm like i said in time we get some guest heroes really the logical ones would be speedy/red arrow, and black canery due to there connections to ollie.

I wouldn't consider them guest heroes though. They're straight up supporting characters to me.

Why would you want Elongated Man at all when Plastic Man exists?

You... you do understand that those two characters have entirely different personalities, right? Maybe they just like Elongated Man more.

Yes, I do. But Plastic Man is the more recognizable and it's generally agreed upon he's the more interesting one. It's like wanting Max Mercury to show up instead of The Flash. And I'm sure he likes Elongated Man more, which is why I'm asking why.

I don't think it will be that big of a deal. Although people liked smallville, I think we can all agree it wasn't the best thing to hit television.

If the changes they make are for the better and the show is compelling it really wont matter.

I watched most of smallville and even I can barely remember the green arrow episodes, whatever changes they do make I wouldnt even notice.

EM would suit the tone of the show better.

Not really. Plastic Man has a more scientific origin, a more interesting theme for a show that is centered on redemption, and is funny, too.

Or better yet........ do neither. :o

Except he wasn't.

Even if this pilot is a complete reinterpretation on the character, it will probably do more justice to Green Arrow than Smallville ever did.

Especially with this Bourne Identity-inspired approach.

Maybe if the tone of the show was cheesy camp.

The thing with the bourne approach we dont even know what the means for the show at this point. Since we have no footage to go by. But like i said before at the end of the day the show is still about a costume superhero so dont include most comics stuff about said characters what the point in even doing a show on the character.

Same goes with any show about some character or a remake of a show its always going to be labeled as a reinteriptation on character. That is just a saying really that doesnt mean to much of anything.

Saying that the show is going to be approached like a Bourne movie doesn't mean anything without seeing some footage. For all we know, "Bourne-esque" could just mean "shaky-cam action scenes."

Green Lantern had an approach similar to Star Wars. If that worked or not, it's irrelevant.

If Arrow will have a Jason Bourne-esque approach, it means it'll be most likely gritty and realistic, and avoid the more over-the-top and cheesy parts of the Green Arrow lore.

The only real similarity is that the Green Lanterns and the Jedi are both keepers of galactic peace. That's about it.

Even if the realistic approach happens. We don't know how open to magic/aliens/other comics will be. Like I said before they can present the world as a real place. But can always leave door open to throughbin magic/comic book stuff.

Another character for the show?:

Any ARROW intel? — Mikey
The TV Addict: SMALLVILLE fans who are still in mourning over their dearly departed Superman series will be pleased to discover that ARROW isn’t wasting anytime when it comes to bringing familiar faces back into the fold. Less pleased, will be actress Keri Lynn Pratt, who it appears will have to re-audition for the role of Cat Grant that producers have re-imagined as a sexy TMZ-style reporter who appears in the ARROW pilot to cover the unexpected reappearance of Oliver Queen.

I hated her in Smallville. They were doing good with casting up until this point

So, this basically implies that Superman, or Clark Kent at least exists in this series' universe.
