Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there an 8 year gap between Batman movies after B&R? That doesn't mean WB threw in the towel, it means they wanted breathing room between films.

They weren't taking a break, they just couldn't decide on what new crap they wanted to peddle out for the next 6 years until they lucked on Nolan in 2003. I mean there was a 5th sequel with Scarecrow and Harley Quinn, Year One, The Dark Knight Returns, Batman vs Superman...

Yea, i can't understand how Nolans movies completely ignore the fact that Bruce Wayne is a bonafide genius and Sherlock Holmes esque detective. That's like, Batmans thing. That's his superpower.

it is strange that nolan of all people would exclude that one aspect from his take, he seems like he's all about that kinda thing.

either way to this day it remains the fuel to my rage against the films success.
Sherlock Holmes without the sherlock..and people wonder why joker stole the movie.

WHERE'S GEOFF JOHNS DAMNIT, i want a comment.

It didn't really bother me at all. It made alot of sense for the movie. I don't think it would be believable at that point for Bruce to build all this high tech stuff without help. It made sense in IM because they built up Tony Stark's brilliance as an engineer. Lucius Fox may have been getting a bit close to becomming Q in TDK though by pretty much saving the day with his inventions.

yea, it would have been kinda unbelievable but then again, that's why batman's cool, cause he's not some guy running around in an expensive suit as the haters would want you to believe.

imagine for one second what would happen if tony was given his stuff by other people. Oh wait IM2.
kidding, but it would ruin him, and for me that' s kinda happening as we speak.

they can still do Wonder woman they actually have a director who wants to do it

Nicolas Winding Refn(Bronson,Drive) who actually won best director at Cannes this year and he wants to do a wonder woman movie

I think Paramount is going to win big this year.
WB needs Potter to do as well as it's supposed to but it's all Paramount this year.

You have an article about this? I've never read the details of what Whedon had planned for Wonder Woman.

Nope. Talked to Morena Baccarin about it a year or so ago. He wanted her for the WW role. Hence the 300 movie comparison (that film hadn't come out back when Joss was attached to WW)

The guy who did Bronson... wants to do Wonder Woman?!?!

Man, i'd love to see that. It would be an interesting experience, to say the least.

The only Green Lantern character Reynolds could've done justice is really Guy Gardner.

He ruined Hal Jordan. Hal Jordan is not a snarky smart-alec. He's not an immature man-child.

It felt like the studio tried to sell the whole, "it's not me thing" (but it is) and it failed to really work.

Good call with Guy Gardner. That would have been perfect. The WB obviously tried to take a page from Marvel's "playbook" on how to sell a B-List comic character to a mainstream movie audience, by mimicking Downey's portrayal of Tony Stark as a smug *****ebag (if you will)....that's fine, but that's not Hal Jordan.

Batman has been known as a detective, as a martial artist, and as the smartest guy in the room. However, he has never been known as an inventor or an engineer. That's like suddenly having Stark start solving crimes even though that was never his forte. I think having Fox in Nolan's Batman movies is a brilliant decision, actually, and it makes Bruce Wayne more believable than if we were to see him doing designs on Batmobile out of nowhere.

He did.

That must have been the straw that broke the studio's back.

bring on jennifer garner, she's already been in a one of these and she's popular

That is wholly inaccurate, sir. He's built his gadgets, car, suit, and the damn Batcave. He's had help from Alfred and Harold, but Bruce is very well capable of engineering technical marvels from scratch.

it hardly takes a super engineer to make most of batman's tech. But I'd agree that with the wayne portrayed in the film, veto'ing that aspect to a james bond Q character works.
which is sad.

It's not like I'm asking them to have Wayne invent an Ark reactor, or dimensional doorway.
Not even a teleporter which he has done in the past. Just his own damn gear and tuning up his own damn car like a REAL MAN would lol.

in the current books it would be a sin to have fox do what he's done for wayne, especially in TDK.

According to David Poland:
So $350 million maybe even $400 million?

WTF is wrong with WB? they make steaming pile of a movie and spend this much extra cash on it?

"TEH SUIT!!!!"

So if you're Warner Bros, you have to be worried that the world now knows that, reportedly, "Green Lantern" cost $300 million. That's not meant to be impressive; the pre-release discussion of a number that big is meant to signal that your movie is probably in trouble.

Jennifer Garner is a borderline bad actress. She peaked during Alias' penultimate season.

I think he may have had her on a short list of actresses (he likes working with people he's worked well with before) but I doubt she was the viable frontrunner. Actors/actresses tend to amplify their attachment to projects that don't materialize.

I love that woman though
Morena Baccarin that is.

The 200 million aint the killer but when the marketing is 150 million theres the problem . The marketing should not costs nearly as much as the film .

It's weird to hear that. Only stuff I remember about the project is Whedon was struggling with Wonder Woman and he was creating his own villains. It wasn't sounding like he got the character, so it didn't bother me that he left. Your mention of the story details caught my attention.

According to the WB suits, he "didn't get" the character. Meaning, he didn't follow the superhero film formula which, at the time, was what the studios wanted. Hell, according to GL that's what the studios still want.

I love it

Box Office Mojo said GL is estimated to have made 52.7 million over the weekend.

this movie has bad word of mouth against it... it will be lucky to break even

Terrible opening for a movie of this magnitude in one of the most aggressive summers ever.

Numbers indicate that it is getting terrible buzz and word of mouth.

I blame the WB brass for going to Ryan Reynolds and Justin Timberlake types. For a guy like Hal Jordan, do you know who you get? Watch a little movie called THE RIGHT STUFF. Find those actors but younger and you are set. Ryan Reynolds didn't try to disappear into the role and truly become Hal Jordan. He still brought his silly crap to the role and it was wrong for the movie JUST LIKE BLADE 3. Reynolds' schtick messed up the flow of Blade 3 as well.

Digital suits were stupid for the humanoid GL characters. For the aliens I get it, but we barely even saw more of the alien GL characters.

Hector Hammond was a weak villain. Sarsgaard did OK, but the character is just such a goofy and lame character. I mean I can enjoy reaidng about Hammond in a comic, but that's a comic. In live action he's a weak character.

Not enough Oa. I think Sinestro really should've been the villain. The family Hal Jordan stuff was done poorly as was Jordan's being dragged away from his family's home.

Edits and cuts were really awkward.

Still ****ing Reynolds screwed us. He is not Hal Jordan. He cannot overcome fear.

word of mouth seem to be pretty good, from what I've seen of it's audience, its just all this behind the scenes drama and critics that are really destroying this films image.
