Green Lantern reboot ideas.

Show Ryan Reynold's Hal Jordan and Dwayne Johnson's John Stewart having a beer and talking, then have an alien blow up their base apparently killing off screen...

Oh wait...that happened in another movie...never mind.

Too those who want John as the main GL in a GL reboot or JLA film, sadly Idoubts if that's going to happens. DC's to obsessed with Hal right now.
DC is because it's ran by Hal fanboys. WB on the other hand is obsessed w/money. Hal's film lost a large amount of it. Hopefully they'll be thinking of this if they ever put GL in live action again. Canceling Hal's show &continuing to show JLU on Saturday mornings and on Netflix hopefully means they want to get the GA used to seeing John w/the Justice League again

I wonder what a Wes Anderson GL film would be like.

Hahahahaha i love imagining that...
Luke Wilson as Hal Jordan
Owen Wilson as Guy Gardner
Willem Dafoe as Sinestro
Bill Murray as Ganthet

LOL ! :yay:

You forgot Jason Schwartzman as Kyle Rayner,
the hard part would be casting John Stewart.

(what about Adrien Brody as Sinestro).

What about a Quentin Tarantino GL ?

Jaime Foxx as John Stewart
Christoph Waltz as Sinestro
Uma Thurman or Zoe Bell as Katma Tui
John Travolta as Hal Jordan
Michael Madsen as Guy Gardner
Samuel L Jackson as Ganthet

Foxx isn't a bad idea, although I would prefer Rock. The main issue with John or Kyle is that WB gets a big-name actor to compensate for John or Kyle's lack of exposure. I think there are only a few actors who could do that.

Ha. I was kidding about the Tarantino thing.
Can you imagine, " Say 'In brightest day again' mother ****er, I dare you,
I double dare you !"

Yeah, Jamie Foxx would be a good John Stewart (well he looks the part
way more than Electro). I'm coming to the conclusion that the Rock will get the role, and I'm getting used to the idea ( for those who don't know the Rock's mom is Samoan, and his dad is Afro-Canadian).
Truthfully, if it raises the profile of GL in the public eye, and makes enough money to ensure some GL films I'm cool with that.
( you know, the ensemble cast films really work, especially in the sci-fi and action genre, e.g. Avengers. As such, I still reckon a GL ensemble film, with the Rock as part of the main cast would be DC's best bet. But that's just IMO )

Still, the big casting question is Hal. I'm still keen on Fillion.
But the thought suddenly occurred to me (was watching the Mummy yesterday) that Brendan Fraser, could probably pull it off.
I reckon he at least would be a better Hal Jordan than Ryan Reynolds.

Personally, I always think of Hal as a little bit older - just because he's an officer in the air force, something that makes you grow up a bit, (think he's a Captain, although maybe a major. He's a bit hot-headed, stubborn and immature at times, but I've never thought of him as a young man.
Back in the 80's he might have even been a Colonel, but I lost track, loved that 80's Gil Kane artwork).

However it happens, I'm looking forward to GL's next appearance on film.

:hal:

Foxx isn't a bad idea, although I would prefer Rock.
Who can anyone be wanting Rock over Foxx if they want a great GL adaption?
What's best for John Stewart, a serious/dramatic actor or a posing action dude with a LOT of muscles?

The Rock has proven that he can do drama (Gridiron Gang, Snitch, etc), so it's not like he can't act. Plus, I would prefer a more physically imposing Stewart. Foxx as Martian Manhunter, now that could be cool.

Want rock for cyborg. Imagine that dude clad in 80% metal?! He'd be imposing as hell. Who knows, if the film back to back rumor is true.... The only thing I'm torn with is that without rock as Stewart, people might not dare themselfs to go to the cinema. Not a fan of the Denzel option because he's always playing himself all the time. Seriously no range, the rock has more range than Denzel. That being said though maybe Dwayne should play lantern, but it would be so cool to see cyborg, I'm just thinking of a scene with a kid looking in shock at cyborg, this mostly giant machine, and him saying " what you looking at kid?" In that Dwayne Johnson way.

The Rock is a serious actor; he's played a wide variety of roles. However, he's also a special kind of talent who's an attraction, much like John Wayne or Arnold Schwarzenegger in their respective primes. The Rock could transform John Stewart from character unknown to general audiences to a cinematic goldmine.

And neither Foxx, Denzel or Elba would manage to do the same? Is that what you're saying?

Denzel could, even at his advanced age, but Rock is riding a wave of popularity right now that is perfect for a comic book franchise. Plus, if there is anyone in Hollywood who looks like a comic book hero, it's Rock. Visuals are very important in a page-to-screen adaptation.

He does look like Black Adam, but not even close to John Stewart. He has the wrong build and the wrong face.
Casting him as John will only be because of his popularity, not because he suits the character.

Tru dat ! Although Ryan Reynolds was hot (had been in some successful films) when cast as Hal, so I'm always suspicious about casting decisions
simply based on who's the flavour of the month.

Having said that The Rock has been around for a while now, and has made
some good films and some pretty average films - but they're still all
fun to watch. I agree that he's certainly got the super-hero look, kind of DC's answer to Hemsworth as Thor.

Also, the Rock has that special kind of charm, that he plays a straight up tough guy, but then makes fun of himself. He certainly would raise the
profile of John Stewart, or any character really. In some ways, he's the millennium Arnold Schwarzenegger - the likeable tough guy type, he just needs more one-liners.

But casting alone can't carry a film, lets hope if and when the Rock puts on either a power ring, or some bit of super-hero gear, that it's in a vehicles that's well written and well directed enough to be a success.

On that note, if we could travel back in time, delete Reynolds from GL, and put the Rock in as the main character instead (John Stewart, not Hal Jordan) the film would have had a bit more charm and the humour would have worked better (although the same could be said for Fillion in the lead role).

Anyway, looking forward to the Rock as a DC super-hero (could be Cyborg, or John Stewart, or Lobo or Mary Marvel, who knows).

cheers :hal:

I really don't know where you are getting that idea. The only thing I can think of here is that you are basing your opinion off 1970s John Stewart appearances. John has regularly been drawn as the biggest/most muscular of the titular Lanterns over the last 10 years. I can't even remember the last time he was drawn as a normal-sized man. Moreover, he usually has a tight-cropped hair, which would be very easy for the makeup department to replicate.

Not really. All the earth lanterns have been regularly drawn as normal sized men currently.

The only lantern who screams muscular is Kilowog, and I don't see the Rock playing him.

I actually like the JLU version of John Stewart as far as appearance goes. The shaved head/goatee is awesome for John. If The Rock is playing him, I would hope they go with that look for the films.

I thought so too as it would make a lot of sense having to go with that look on John Stewart. I don't know why, but I've always grew fonder of his JLU look.

Blackest Night, War of the Green Lanterns, Sinestro Corps War, Brightest Day, and his current GLC run...in each of these, John looks like he's 250lbs or more. He was also drawn as considerably more muscular than Hal during his brief appearances on Young Justice.

If the Rock plays a human GL, they will most likely still call his character Hal Jordan.

All superheroes are drawn muscular at one point or another. If he has been drawn muscular, then chances are the other lanterns/superheroes in that issue were probably drawn like that as well.

Just checked the bios. While John has 19 pounds on Hal. Hal's one inch taller.

I don't think they should Reboot. Just have Jordan back for JL but give him less *****y chararacterisation and no romance crap. Or have Stewert and make point of saying Jordan is off on a mission on the other side of the Galaxy
