Green Lantern reboot ideas.

Again I must say aNarcHy2day the choice of Freida Pinto for Katma Tui is inspiring casting. Someone should really make a Manip of Freida as Katma.

Three of those directors would be really good, especially Cuaron. Others I see could pull it off would be Neil Blomkamp, Alex Proyas, Joseph Kosinki, JJ Abrams, and Guillermo Del Toro.

Wow, good ones, Proyas would kick butt. I do think guys who do too much genre stuff would end up making Green Lantern 'theirs' so to speak, so I personally wouldn't go for Abrams or Del Toro. I feel like they would come back for a sequel and screw it up, because they always have some new genre project they're also working on.

Very good point. I think Alex Proyas would fit for GL more than the other two I mentioned. Some directors just seem appropriately right for films like this and Proyas is one of them.

Time to weigh in. 2 things

1) on the strength of Pacific Rim (becuz until I saw it, I was very meh, on his work), Del Toro ! He does well with ensemble casts, weird creatures
and exotic settings. He would make a GL film that was so visually stunning, that we'd forgive minor plot, character and story holes.

So, Del Toro and some good casting and GL would absolutely rock.

2) The Green Lantern Animated series (the recent one) is much more enjoyable than the live action film. Whoever's going to reboot it needs
to take some cues from that, and it didn't even really feature Sinestro.

I reckon it should be about 75% in space and only 25% on Earth, the opposite of Man of Steel. The Krypton scenes were amazing in MOS, so a similar level of detail and design for the off-earth sequences, contrasted with the mundane world that Superheroes are starting to pop up in (so the world of MOS) that would work. But keep it mostly off Earth. GL is almost
a "Space Opera" type adventure comic. It's great fun, and should draw on its strengths.

And that's IMO. Peace out Lanterns :hal:

What about Luc Besson directing GL?
I suggested him for DC heroes before, but the response here was negative.
Directors that have made blockbusters in the past are unwanted by many comic book fans. Over-the-top sceneries or experience with big films just don't matter.
Indie film directors on the other hand, are hot candidates.

I still can't believe that series didn't get renewed for at least another season. It's even more baffling to think that it might have been tied to the crappy toys from the GL movie.

I still think Common would make a good John Stewart. He was the only good casting from Justice League Mortal.

My only idea is giving a bigger role to my favorite Green Lantern; Kilowog

Really ? What a shame. In that show they got everything right about GL and still made it fun. That is baffling indeed.

Now that Batfleck's out of commission until 2016, maybe WB will fast track some other superhero projects and we'll get a Rock GL film sooner than expected.

cheers.

According to Josh Keaton (Hal's voice), stores were still carrying the movie toys and Mattel, which originally planned a GL:TAS line, couldn't find any market for cartoon toys. According to JK, there was confusion over the movie and the series being two entities. It's quite a shame.

Talking about Kilowog I wonder who could replace MCD in the role?

Literally almost anyone. It's not like it was a masterpiece performance. The only really good performance was Mark Strong.

I personally did like MCD's performance as Kilowog. It wasn't Shakespearan but was very decent.

My personal choice... Adam Baldwin.

As far as the rebooted story goes, there's an easy explanation for getting around the fact that retelling Hal Jordan's story would be redundant and jumping right into John Stewart in the same universe as MOS - just give the explanation that most of Hal's GL work took place off-planet, and Stewart is the first GL to operate largely, but not exclusively, on Earth.

If they want to go with a younger John Stewart, how about Gaius Charles?

call the movie HAL.

Have the corps merely called THE GREEN CORPS.

The Green corps have to train him learn how to use his thoughts better so that a big boobed naked green woman doesn't pop out of his ring by accident when going for a weapon or something.

Make the energy lantern for the rings not be a lantern, make it a green ball of energy.

have the world be purged into darkness by the villain.
Hal makes a giant green lantern around him at the end in front of the public before he saves everyone.
the media announce him as the green lantern at the end.

have little school girls skipping at the end singing the green lantern's light rhyme.

close up of him smiling in space with green glow around him. boom

Jake Gynhenal as Hal jordan.
and get rid of the old miners lantern logo on his chest completely.
give him green glowing eyes instead of a domino mask.
have his suit black with green under tones.

For starters:

Long story short: Team Hal up with Flash before we get to Justice League, recap their origins over the opening credits, give John Stewart his origin in the same movie. Geoff Johns writes, Joseph Kosinski directs.

John Stewart moves onto Justice League, while Hal heads off to the full GL reboot to take on Sinestro.

Going even beyond that, Hal could appear in the 2nd JL movie and he and John can team up again for the GL follow-up. Of course, at that point people would be asking (rightly so) if John is ever gonna get a movie just about him.
