Green Lantern reboot ideas.

I take it you weren't around the Green Lantern boards after the film came out. One of the biggest fan complaints was about there not being enough scenes on Oa and that the Earth scenes sucked. Which I agree with, but I thought every scene sucked except for the first scene with Abin Sur.

That's a valid complaint. I would have much rather the movie introduced us to Bzzd, Hannu, and Stel instead of wasting time on Hector's relationship with his dad.

I would have settled for Sinestro, Kilowag, Tomar-re, and the GLC being in the movie for more than fifteen minutes and actually DO SOMETHING. Make the threat come to Oa while Hal was training with the rest of the Corps, that could have worked. Also, Hal defeating Parallax by himself, and it being so pathetically easy was BS as well.

^Very much agreed. Hi everyone!

I think the most logival choice would be to go the way of The Incredible Hulk. Introduce Hal as part of the justice league and lightly touch upon his origin using flashbacks and/or exposition lines, then after he's wowed the audience, give him his movie. The movie might have been bad but it removed the need for a GL movie in preparation for the JL movie.

Rebooting it now would be a waste of time and resources that could have been spent on a WW/Flash movie.

it's a tough one, as i think Ryan Reynolds is a good Hal, looks, attitude, build etc.

I don't want his movie to be connected to this universe tho, sadly...best thing to do is have John Stewart - he is earth's green lantern - after the GLC chose him to protect earth as Hal was away. No one knows who hal is, you can assume it is Ryan reynolds, or not

^Nah, I hate Ryan Ryenolds. I mean he's an ok actor but he was terribly miscast as Hal Jordan, the script didn't help either and he was easily forgettable. Though that doesn't mean he Hal should be played by Ryan. He can easily be replaced by another actor; sort of a silent reboot.

They tried rebooting Hulk. It failed both times. The only time Hulk ever succeeded on the big screen was in a team flick(Avengers). Going this route basically mean we'll never get another Lantern flick(since he'll be seen as someone that can't carry his own movie)

Oh, and who the bad place thought inserting Hector Hammond into the film was a good idea? He's the kind of goofy, silver-age throwback that has been plaguing DC for decades. Characters like that have no business in a mainstream superhero film. Watching him on the bigscreen was painful. All I saw was a amalgam of that cheesy scientist from Howard the Duck mixed with Seth Brundle from the Fly. Horrid choice from DC Creative.

I meant rebooting him with the JL like what they did with Hulk in Avengers.

As strange is it sounds, i'd still love Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern - i'm not sure studio executives would be up for a remake/sequel like The Evil Dead 2 was to its predecessor, but one can still dream, right? :p

I actually like the "Green Lantern" movie, and honestly don't understand why so many online seem to hate it. I hope WB does a proper sequel at some point; bringing Ryan back for a Justice League film would be awesome!

They can get ahead of Marvel Studios by announcing a John Stewart Green Lantern movie, especially if Marvel decides (for whatever reason) not to make a Black Panther movie.

Depends on if they actually learn from the first one, though. Sadly, if they do anything different, I'd expect another Snyder-style film, with incoherent themes, washed out characters, and badly done disaster porn.

You know for all the hate the original did and its poor box office they sure show it alot on TV. Far more than many other CBMs. This says something.

A Green Lantern movie was already made way before the 2011 travesty.

And it was awesome.

Pretty much just remake this, but change the starfighter to a power ring and the main character to Hal Jordan and you've got an amazing Green Lantern movie. Or make a live action version of First Flight.

Joseph Kosinski or Neil Bloomkamp to direct the next Green Lantern film if it ever takes flight.....that is all. :word:

Kosinski has yet to make an actual good film, imo. Even Campbell had a couple of those. Someone a little more proven for a reboot would be nice.

I still stand by Chris Pine as Hal Jordan. I know it's probably unlikely if Star Trek keeps up, but he's an ideal Hal in my mind. Plus, he's already nailed a space adventurer pretty well.

Chris Pine is ok, but I personally think Ackles fits Jordan better. Plus, Pine's too pretty.

:oldrazz:

Ackles would be more likely to take the role. Would probably be a seen as a huge step down for Pine. After Hal's last debacle, I don't see anybody with a successful film career chomping at the bit to play him
Idris Elba retweets awesome John Stewart manip

"Thank you baby love..i like this idea..."@HeyTaz: @idriselba you should set this up pic.twitter.com/htnwDK5OjD"

There's hope!
This needs to happen! You have an actor people want to see AND he wants the role? Come on WB, opportunity is knocking! That manip alone looks a million times better than what we got last time

Seriously. You already know i want a Hal Jordan movie more than a John Stewart one, but honestly if Idris Elba was the lead in a JS movie, I'd be WAY more excited for that. Seriously that would be way too perfect.

Elba as GL is on the same level as Patrick Stewart as Prof X, Bale as Batman, Cavill as Superman. Too perfect. Make this happen WB, you would have to idiots to let this opportunity slip through your fingers.

Right now Elba is on the cusp of superstardom, he's still cheap enough to hire for a movie like this, and it'll pay off once he explodes into superstardom

Oh wow. I loved that movie. I never thought about it but that was a GL movie in a video game disguise.
