Green Lantern reboot ideas.

Do you know what moment I would like to see? You know the scene in man of steel when Zod is getting imprisoned in the phantom zone at the start of the movie?

I would love someone to edit in a green lantern into that scene and tell the rest of the scene from his perspective

Explaining why the GL of sector 2814 didn't show up oppose Zod is a must. Even if it's a continuity reboot and Abin still has the ring, it would have alerted him to a planet-ending threat in his sector.

I thought Krypton was in sector 2813. I think I read some story where Tomar Re was the GL of Krypton's sector. It'd be easy to explain why a GL wasn't on Krypton at that time. Maybe Krypton was just considered such a utopia that the GL of sector 2813 never patrolled there?

Tomar-Re was dispatched on a mission to rescue the population of Krypton

It was discovered that the planet Krypton would explode due to the core of the planet being unstable. Tomar was dispatched to delay the planet's destruction until the inhabitants found a way to fix the problem. Evacuation of the population was not an option.

The Green Lantern worked unseen by the natives of Krypton.

Tomar scoured the skies of space looking for a certain material, stellarium, that would absorb the planet's radiation. It took months to gather enough of the element, but Tomar-Re worked feverishly to complete his task. It was in the Ariel star system that Tomar-Re found a deposit of stellarium. He was unable to see that Ariel itself was also unstable, and after mining stellarium the star went nova destroying the system and blinding Tomar from the radiation.

He soared the skies blinded, wanting to get the material back to Krypton. The only thing guiding him was the power ring that saved his life during the super nova. But Tomar wasn't in time to save Krypton and the planet exploded before he could arrive.

I think it's really important that if dc really wants to do a shared universe they need to show connections between big moments like that

If we get Hal in the JL movie, I want too see him wear the classic GLC uniform.

I think he's already in the DCU. No point in outright redoing the origin, as there was little wrong with it. I'd be okay with a credit origin sequence.

Jump into the middle of things, utilize Sinestro, and the larger Corps. And it turns of the DCU, GL's obvious impact would be related to his extraterrestrial expertise.

all you need is a loose reboot. the first film doesn't and should have anything to do with the DCCU, but if anyone's interested in a GL origin, it's there. just move on. i imagine that he's in that MoS universe since "Carrie Farris" is in it.

I think along these lines as well. Just move forward.

I have no idea how they got the green lantern outfit so wrong in the last movie. That was my first tip off that things wouldn't work out ok.

To me the green lantern outfit is actually the most dynamic and most stylish of all the superhero "fashion"

This Suit design looks good on paper and in CGI games, but not so much in real life

sorry Bruce Begins, but that post is completely foolish. That cosplay picture proves nothing. You're not proving anything. Youre just proving that cheap cosplay looks like cheap cosplay

I was speaking about Earth. If there was a genocidal threat on one of the planets in sector 2814, the JL continuity needs a plausible story as to why the GL was otherwise occupied.

Yes, and it should be the most simple costume to translate. When I look at Cavill's costume in MOS, I see the template for the GL costume. Combine that with a mask like Oliver wears on Arrow, and it's done. The all-CGI costume was a major expense for the GL movie and it was completely unnecessary.

No white gloves though.

I like the white gloves because they frame the ring. The full-body green was OK, but a classic look would have been more aesthetically pleasing and made more financial sense.

They don't look cool. They look lame. And green on black looks better than green on white.

I've said for years that white gloves would look cool in a "dress uniform" context.

I don't think they'd look good all the time.

i can take or leave the white gloves. Hal has a fantastic suit, but the white gloves aren't essential at all imo.

The movie suit looked weird sometimes because of the cgi, but its lack of white gloves looked good .

If it wasn't for the strange musculature, the movie suit would have been fine with the exception of the mask. That was the real mistake. The CGI mask had no dimension, no depth. It was like his skin was merely painted green, and it just simply didn't work. The white irises were good in theory, but just one more thing that didn't execute well. If they have to have the white covering, I would prefer a physical domino mask with lenses in it like the Daredevil mask. Just make them white.

I like the white gloves. If he makes a mess he'll be able to detect it easily

Yes, I have in fact a great idea for a Green Lantern movie. Keep Van Wylder away from it.

I'v posted ideas before about a reboot and possible story directions but this time i'd just like to say.

The Green Lantern movie......what angered me most about this movie was Ryan Reynolds.....he was shocking bad.

Characters
The guardians i thought were done really well.

other characters....it depends....i liked Tomar Re, i'm not sure what it was about kilawog but he didnt seem right.

But Sinestro by Mark Strong i absolutely loved. and i think he also looked great even in the none traditional costume.

The costumes........i dint mind because when i saw the costumes and how they worked with the ring...or from the ring and the purpose of the suits it all seemed logical....kind of like superman space suit in man of steel...it worked.

The story i thought was as big a let down as much as Ryan Reynolds was.

So what I'm saying is i hated the movie because i know it could have been great. if it had a story that people cared about and a Hal Jordan we could stand for more than 5 seconds then maybe it wouldn't have needed a reboot.
