Well, Guardians 2 came in at #2 with $35.1M for a WW total of $301.8M here in America (46% drop) and is now at $732.6M WW. So far things look good for Guardians 2 holding well on Memorial Day Weekend despite continuing to drop. I actually thought Guardians 2 would make $720M WW by today, so I'm pleased this is higher than I thought.

It's overseas box office went from $384 million last week to $431 million this week. It still might make it to $500 million foreign but there is no way it gets to $600 million foreign so one billion WW is out of the question. It still has a very small chance of legging it out to $900 million.

Does anybody else think Guardians' appearance in Infinity War will help them in Vol. 3? Maybe it will be the push that help the third movie gross over 1 billion, like Avengers' success did likewise for Iron Man 3.

sure. the extra exposure can't hurt and only helps.

i feel like iron man 3 came out right afterwards whereas we will have to wait a few years for the GOTG follow up, but it should still have a halo effect from their inclusion in Avengers.

It's very close to GOTG numbers now. Only 30M less domestically and 10M less in foreign markets. 40M less worldwide. 1 week more and GOTG2 will be firmly ahead of GOTG numbers.

It looks like it's this year's IDR. That opened to $41 million and just barely crawled over the $100 million mark domestically. Did $389 million total WW. A:C might not even manage quite those mediocre numbers.
