How was the art? Pelletier, for all his skills, doesn't draw flaterring women.

Okay, I'm sold. Tomorrow, I'll be picking this up.

This might become a sexist discussion. Emergency topic change:

Starhawk. When is he showing up?

Should I have recognized the Matriarch of the Church? Seems like they were revealing something but I didn't remember her

Well,
According to someone on another board she is just called The Matriarch and was the leader of the Universal Church back in the original Warlock run.

Really. That would make sense. I'll have to see if I can find those issues.

Twists.

PS: Watch Miller's Crossing starring Gabriel Byrne and Albert Finney. You'll be glad you did!

Already in my dvd collection, along with most other Coen Brothers flicks.

I just picked up GoTG after watching Harold and Kumar. And yeah, its been a great day. Seeing that bottomless party and Nova defending his male honor in one day is certainly a strangely good combination.

Quote of the day:

Where's your Kor-An now?

I'm on the fence. I liked Annihilation and Conquest was good, not AS good, but enjoyable. I liked the first three issues of Nova. If Nova was a permanent fixture I would be more inclined, but I don't know if I have enough interest to follow this team. What to do, what to do....

Well, the first issue was about as perfect a first issue as I've ever read, so I'd highly recommend at least checking that one out and seeing for yourself whether you like the dynamic. It's different from both Nova and Conquest--lighter, funnier, but still pretty good about paying individual attention to the team members.

Thanks Corp, I'll give it a whirl. I'll get it 2 weeks when my comic store ships it to me. I get my books every 2 weeks which is torture, but it's worth it for the deal he gives me. I'll sure you'll be on pins and needles, but I'll let you know what I think of your reccomendation.

Cool. I hope you enjoy it. It seems like it'll be a fun series.

Did you read any of the original Guardians series?

I loved the Fisting of the bag of weed.

As much as I'd like to think I understand American culture: What the ***k was with that scene with the Grape Soda?

And Raza Said? Best Arab-American character. EVER.

Anyways: Mantis. Her little view into the future has me sold on this series. Who is the traitor? And yeah, Comrade Racoon and Mr.Cosmo are gonna get along great. Its incredible, DnA had so much trouble trying to get all these characters to click in AC while dealing with different aspects of the Phalanx yet here, they succeed so well which makes me wonder where it went wrong in AC.

I did not read the original series so I have nothing to compare it to. I don't know if thats good or bad, but I'm going in with a clean slate. The only Space Marvel I've read is Annihilation, Conquest and the first 3 issues of Nova.

My afternoon appointment cancelled so I ran out a grabbed a copy today. I did like it. I am digging the team dynamic, especially Drax and Gamora who would rather be doing something else, and Rocket Raccoon as the comic relief. I like that Adam Worlock has found his purpose in his new life. I thought Cosmos the Russian Space Dog is an interesting addition and I'm sure there will be great scenes with him and Rocket. Mantis' revelations are creepy but I like her code about not sharing ALL her knowledge, it makes sense. I'm not sure about Peter Quill/Star-Lord yet. He hasn't done much to wow me yet, but we'll see. I am hoping to see more of Nova but even if not, I'm liking this book so far anyway. Oh, I'm picking up next issue just to see whats up with frozen Cap(?) in outer space. All in all, nice work DnA. I'll be checking in for a while at least and adding this to my pull list. Thanks, Corp.:cwink:

Glad you liked it. The reason I asked if you'd read the original GotG is that that last page is actually a little shout-out to fans of the old series in addition to just being a cliffhanger. I bet you probably thought it was just some mystery involving Captain America 'cause it's his shield, right? Well, it's actually a mystery involving Captain America (maybe) or a mystery involving the original Guardians (more likely) because they were led by an alternate reality version of Vance Astrovik, a.k.a. Avengers: The Initiative's Justice, who wielded his reality's version of Cap's shield long after Cap himself had died. Hence the little joke about how lucky they were to dodge all that confusing alternate reality stuff toward the end of the issue. ;) So it looks like DnA are wasting no time in establishing some connections between this version of the Guardians and the last. Don't worry, though; I'm sure they realize that GotG was fairly obscure and they'll explain the old characters and stuff as they go.

As soon as I read your post, I remembered Vance from one of the old Marvel trading card sets from the 90's (and I totally forgot he is Justice). But yeah, reading the issue all I thought was Captain America. Cool. This is like a whole new universe of characters for me.
