Well didn't Nova purposely fetch planets without life?

I've never read much Silver Surfer but I remember in the old Handbook it said she didn't care if he ate planets with life as long as he left Earth alone.

An absolutely amazing first issue.

Rocket Raccoon is a badass too.

Good first issue, I'm really looking forward to more. Questions:

1)
Who do you think the traitor is going to be? My money's on Warlock. Since they started out with the Universal Church, I'm smelling a return of Magus.

2)
Should I have recognized the Matriarch of the Church? Seems like they were revealing something but I didn't remember her

I was thinking the same thing.

Good first issue. Liked the art. Thought the battlefield banter was kinda awkward

sorry, but is this in the 616, some spinoff of the annihilation storyline, or something else entirely?

After Annihilation Conquest was over, the group pretty much decided to create a team to stop things from happening like the past two Annihilations.

oh ok, guess i've have to catch up on my annihilation stuff, i was just wondering whether or not it was some alternate universe thing... i like to keep things 616

I wondered the same thing for #2.

I hadn't thought of your theory for #1, but that does make sense. It's a good way to worm out of actually having someone [blackout]betray the team[/blackout] on a technicality.

Of course, it could also be [blackout]Mantis, since she has her funky precognition. Maybe she sees something in the future that makes her realize the other Guardians need to die or something?[/blackout]

Was anyone else completely blown away with this issue? The story came together perfectly and the art was so amazingly awesome, my jar dropped to the floor with every turn of the page. DnA and Pelletier should never leave this title.

Yeah, it was fantastic. DnA's dialogue, more than anything else, was so perfectly spot-on. I laughed out loud three or four times during my reading. DnA have found the perfect comedic foils in Rocket and Drax. :D

And, as if the issue weren't great the whole way through, they leave you with an ending that could get anyone who's even remotely familiar with the original GotG concept tingling with excitement.

Aside from the awesomeness of Rocket and the fact that Pelletier draws a perfect Peter, I think my favorite part was Drax's first debriefing panel. "I got nothing to say. I saw a white light and there was no one in it I wanted to see." That was heartbreakingly awesome.

Oh, and Rocket and Cosmo's brief scene was priceless.

Marvel is knocking these new series out of the park. This and Captain Britain were excellent.

Haha, Rocket and Cosmo was one of my laugh-out-loud scenes.

I hope we get to see some more of Quasar pushing Drax to open up. With Cammi gone, Quasar could make a good foil for Drax through their mutual loss. It'd also be a nice way to examine different approaches to grief itself, from a narrative standpoint.

Where is Cammi, anyway? Did she go back to earth?

Drax sent her away during the opening of Conquest or sometime in Annihilation, I think. I don't remember exactly.

The last time we saw Cammi was in a panel in the last issue of Annihilation. Wandering around on some planet with that pixie thing Thanos was hanging with during Annihilation. Who knows what plans Giffen had for her...

Oh yeah, the two uber-badasses' sidekicks became each other's sidekick.

How about Rocket Raccoon and his Human hangers-on?
How about Drax and his coonskin hat?

Ahahahaha, awesome.

My one gripe with it was towards the end where Drax comes out and says "I suppose we could stab it. Would stabbing it help?" That seemed pretty forced. But it did have some pretty good banter in it. Favorite part would have to be after that giant thing popped out and Warlocks like "It's all right! I can contain it!....mmmmmmm No, it seems i can't". I don't think it was supposed to come off as funny, but it had me cracking up.

It was bound to happen. Now I'm kicking myself in the head for not making the effort to head for my LCS....

There's a part of the issue where Drax goes, "This is what not good looks like!"

And yes, there was serious Nova cameo-age. Especially with Gamora. He cameod all over her.

That sounds dirty in a strange, interesting way.
