Well, it is tying into Secret Invasion. I don't know about the Skrull part, though. That would kind of suck, since, as I said, all the characters are likeable.

But if the traitor is a Skrull the real character is still around to be likeable. There's no telling when the Skrull replaced him or her.

I found that at the outset of Annihilation to right around when he made his alliance with Thanos Annihilus came across as ruthless and cunning and strategically minded such as one would expect a being capable of threatening the entire universe to be but then all of a sudden he turns into this whining egomaniac shouting "ARE WE THERE YET?!?" at Thanos like a child in a carseat.

It wasn't like it was a deal-killer or even necessarily entirely out of character it just felt a lot less good than it could have been so it's as good a place as any to fit in that, oh, Wendell allowed Annihilus to take the quantum bands and hid himself inside them so he could attack Annihilus' mind, making the enemy turn increasingly irrational under continual attack from an unseen foe, crippling his ability to prosecute his war, or whatever of that kind of thing. Wendell returns having become one with the Quasar symbol thing burned into his chest and oh what the hell, an eyepatch.

It's a little hinky in that he's not normally able to affect telepathic energy or whatever but that should be easy enough to plot-******** away.

Sun-Tzu (Liao) once said, feigning foolishness and getting the enemy to believe the act is by far, the best way of letting your adversaries' guard down. Annihilus played the "fool" very well to the point that even Thanos believed he was nothing to worry about till the climax. I think it suited his personality well. Yeah, there were some scenes that were pretty dumb: "Undone by the Titan! NO I DENY IT. I DENY IT!"

Thought I'd give a little bump. #2 is out next week and I'm jazzed. I'm digging this series. And how can you not love Groot?! And Raccoon looks bad-ass!!

No gloves for Groot, Marvel. :csad:

Annhilus was portrayed off panel as a badass..I.E. "look what my army can do" kinda portrayal..Ravenous was bad to the bone..

But most of the stuff was "off panel" I.E. Anny had kicked the butt of the Negative zone and all these places.

He WAS NEVER portrayed as really smart or different on panel...

Kinda makes u think..

Does he really need to be smart? He had a practically limitless number of troops willing to do absolutely anything for him. Throw some basic strategy in and you can beat practically anyone with that kind of numerical advantage and the element of surprise. I figured that's what Annihilation was all about: the Wave wasn't a particularly efficient war machine, but it was an enormously massive one that could bulldoze just about anything with sheer numbers.

Agreed. Maybe tone down the biceps on Rocket, too.

Cover artists. Masters of unwarranted exaggeration.

"Groot demands the picture be taken immediately! Groot's hand is very cold."

Any previews for the next issue? Pelletier is staying on for a long while, isn't he?

So theres like 8 cap's running around if it's actually him, right?

I was half expecting the next page to be a splash of Rocket Raccoon saying something about how badass he is cause he found this shield and just saved Warlock by throwing it.

I think it's likelier to be the shield from the original Guardians' alternate future somehow transported to the past. Maybe with Vance Astro alongside it.

I don't think Pelletier's art has ever looked better. Awesome, awesome stuff. I hope he and DnA stay on this book for a good, long run.

I just hope that whoever stays on keeps up with how good the first issue was, ya know? I don't want it to be one of those books that fizzles after the first arc or two like Runaways.
