Ok there are exceptions but the vast majority of great movies have over an 80% and vast majority of terrible movies have under a 30%.

So RT scores can be helpful.

Again, viewed as extremes they do tell you whether a film is good or bad, but that's not the point, the point is theres no real problem with it being 70 or 80, it's still a good film, i doubt theres anyone who would want to see it more if it went from 77% to 81%. It's pretty much a given that the film will be rated fresh by now.

And why's that?
Not a clue, it just does. Not all the time, but I noticed this with many movies.

Spider-Man 3 was about 85% before its release in the U.S., where it went down to 63%. But that is an extreme case.

Well let's hope ASM isn't one of those movies.

I never understood why people hold such importance to RT ratings. It's simply either good or bad. There's just so little to understand from simply "good" and "bad".

Always thought imdb and MC ratings out of 100% more accurately showed how good a movie truly is. Or bad.

I hate MC because they let in so much crap that needlessly brings down the score of some really amazing films, RT is more accurate in those regards, but i agree with you in that despite it's reputation, IMDB user scores tend to hit the mark a little better when it comes to films.

Well they're both reasonably accurate of public sentiment.

4) Batman Begins - 88%

Well let's hope ASM isn't one of those movies.
Then the Avengers was at 97% and lowered to 93% after the U.S. release. Like I said, because SM3 was a huge disappointment, it dropped drastically.

Well someone pointed out that MIB3 went up after a while so anything is possible.
