Guess who the new writer of runaways is.

But they're not much different. The structures of a TV script and a comic script are very similar.

comics are like storyboards for tv/film, that's why they tend to get made into movies/cartoon so much so na na na na na na :p

But not the same.

He's not god, season 7 of buffy proved that point but he's a very talented writer who has a passion for the project. It's not like they're giving it to Brian "production line" Bendis.

But to take Bendis as the example his best stuff is the stuff he's most passionate about, Alias, Powers, Daredevil. Joss is the right writer because it will gain a for the fans by a fan feel.

He's no Vaughan (but equally I doubt vaughan could write a regular tv show as well as joss does) but of all of marvel's current writers he, for my mind is the perfect fit.

season 7 of Buffy was not that good budy, all the stuff with Buffy and Spike was weird and considering what Spike tried to do to her, highly irregular. I dun wanna see any of the Runaway characters comfort someone that tried ot rape them etc etc.

Hence it proved the point that he's not a god...which is what I said in my post :whatever:

Hippy, does Joss want to join a class action law suit against Justin Timberlake for fraudulent claims. We already know I brought sexy back a long time ago.

I have a sexy back but it's kinda hairy :o

I'm very sad to see Vaughn go, he's done such a great job with Runaways :( Whedon is a good writer, but I don't think that he's guaranteed to do a good job with this series simply because of the fact he's done a good job with other things. I guess it's really a "we'll see what happens" situation, but I can't say I'm happy about this change.

Maybe if he really does send Molly to Planet Hulk......permanently :)

not exactly, there's alot of differences (when someone talented and artistic is actually behind the helm)

Just take panal sizes for example. A movie's frame is always the same size, what you're looking at never gets bigger or smaller. But a comic can have different effects with different page structures and panel sizes, which are deliberate artictic choices by (again, talented) writers and artists

they're all ****es except for molly...and gert but then again she did like a pudgier kelly osbourne.

Does this make victor their pimp?

What's wrong with a comic book like Runaways reaching a wider audience? If they come aboard when he comes aboard and leaves when he leaves, what's the big deal?

That's how books get cancelled. If the book takes a nasty drop in sales once Whedon leaves due to fairweather readers, what happens when the book stays in that rut for about a year? Bingo! Cancelled. :(

For that matter, what's wrong with reading books just because your favorite writer is writing them? Isn't that the point? Every single person here has an affinity to one writer or another and often follows that writer across different projects. How many of you here have said something like "[Writer] is going to write this book? I'm totally there." or "I think I'll drop this book when [Writer] leaves."? How is that in any way different from this situation?

I'm not in that category. I'd be more likely to drop/pick up a book b/c of an artists than a writer. Writers can have good arcs and bad arcs, but an artist either sucks ir doesn't. It is a popular thing to say/do, you're right; but I don't do that.

Overall, I'm happy that Whedon is taking over. The book will be in competent hands. Joss just has a big task ahead of him in making the book a big enough success to survive onc he leaves.

but from my experience it is one of those books that if people actually try it, the tend to stick around

Oh, no doubt the book is [jplaya] crakk and fiya [/jplaya]. It would take more to make this book suck than to continue the awesomeness that it is now. I've pushed this book on like 3 friends already and they fell in love with it. They didn't care who wrote it, they liked the characters and the story. Those are the fans that keep good comics around for a long time.
