Guillermo del Toro's The Strain coming to FX - Part 1

His look is more or less consistent with how the show has portrayed the Strigoi, though he's not telepathic as he is in the books. He communicates with actual speech like Eichorst does in the show.

Ah well, I will see what they do with it, he was so awesome in the books though I don't see the need to change him, unless it's for budget reasons.

I hope we get a whole episode dedicated to his origin though and get to see him as a gladiator and his first encounter with his father.

Huh. So it does seem like Vaugn was really supposed to be Quinlan but they had to change him to another character because the actor can't do the stunts? Why couldn't they just get a stunt double?

They should have just cast someone younger from the start, I said as much when I heard about the casting.

I really liked McHattie, but his character came across as almost too likeable, too much of a working-class guy compared to the two thousand year old stoic warrior that Quinlan is. I do hope that we see McHattie/Vaun again though, in future flashbacks.

That's it for Fitzwilliam? What a waste.

Lucky for them the vamp mom only had two of those spider kids with her.

And they say it's the hoes who aren't loyal. What the Eph? Knew something bad was coming. Things were going too well for Eph.

Already liking the master's new look.

Why couldn't they have had both Vaun and Quinlan though? I also agree Fitzwilliam got totally wasted.

I knew that rocker guy would be the new Master as soon as I saw him in the scene. That was pretty cool.

It is pretty funny that Eichorst has fought in wars for and run concentration camps for and served the Master faithfully for who knows how many years and then this reject Goth member comes out of nowhere and does nothing and he is the one the Master chooses to pass his life force on to.

The Master is trolling Eichorst hard.:funny:

I like the idea of an ancient vampire having the ability to pass on his essence to survive, but I'm really going to miss Robert Maillet as the Master. His physical stature went a long way in giving the Master the presence of something that isn't human.

I knew Roger cross and Tom Ellis would not be sticking around as they have their own shows in which they are the leads in. Both were listed as guest stars as well so it wasn't too much of a shock to see them bite it.

Tom Ellis seems to play swashbuckling, fun loving womanisers in all the American shows he has been in. The opposite to the types of characters he played in the UK.

They should be making more of an effort to kill Palmer.

I was stoked to see Rupert Penry-Jones name in the opening credits. Jones is an underrated actor who I always wondered why he wasn't bigger than he is. It is cool to see Jones as Quinlan.

Augustin Elizalde shouldn't of left his axe.

Glad Barnes was confirmed as dead. Barnes had it coming.

The Goodweather goes to Washington plot is probably over.

Quick question : Is Quinlan special to be able to walk on day light or all uber vampires can do that ?

Me too. It's a cool idea that he can jump to new body and new body when he gets too old etc. It makes the whole Master title that much more meaning. That the Master can't be killed and is truly immortal.

Me to. The new guy just looks like a "regular" bad guy. But I can't lie, the ending the other day was shocking. I have never read the books but loving the show right now. Especially now that "Blade" has come on the scene.

Episode 7 "The Born" Interesting Quinlan flashbacks and I liked the scene where he saves Setrakian and Vasiliy Fet from the spider kids. Disappointing we didn't actually get to see Quinlan and The Master fight though.

I'm confident this episode will make even the non-book readers a Quinlan fan. What a bad ass. :hrt:

Stop acting like a love sick puppy Fet! Get your act together dude! :argh:

Eeeeewwwww at Palmer and the assistant.

Starts here Wednesday night, can't wait, Quinlan is such an awesome character, hope we get more flashbacks than what has been shown already.

I liked how the peasants in that village didn't even bat an eye when they spoke to Quinlan lol
