Fantasy Guy Ritchie Directing Disney's Aladdin

Not feeling Genie...Eddie Murphy or Seth Macfarlane would've been my choices.

Seth would've been good, but he bad mouths disney a lot on Family Guy. Remember? There's no way they'd hire a guy who keep trying to spread the myth that Walt was an anti-Semite when he really wasn't!

Naomi Scott.

Theyre both gorgeous, tbh

So that article was nonsense...or some kind of leverage move.

I wonder what accent they will use. Are they going to sound middle eastern or north American or British?

Now I NEED Riz to be Jafar...

Yeah I guess I could see where they'd be holding a grudge...
Cool we have casting now just don't get Will Smith as the Genie.

it would be funny if british haha :woot:

It is a guy Ritchie movie and is filming in the UK so I honestly wouldn't be shocked if everyone had British accents.

Beauty and the beast had mostly British accented characters as well despite being set in provincial France.

Too late, they already cast Will. I think he's a good choice!

Eddie Murphy is a moody *****e in real life by most peoples accounts so perhaps Disney didn't want to deal with his antics.

I'm mostly supportive of the choice, because Smith is a good actor, but I could see this either going really well or really terribly for him.

Never seen the new Aladdin or Jasmine in anything, but I'm sure they'll be fine.

Smith just needs to bring his own thing to it. Don't try to do a Robin Williams impersonation, he won't top it. But don't make it different and weird just to be different and weird.

Agreed with everything you said. I really hope this works out for Will. I miss when he was THE movie star (when he made Independence Day, MIB, Enemy of the State etc) and it seemed like he could do no wrong. It feels like he's had endless duds for far too long (although his Deadshot was one of the few highlights in the awful Suicide Squad)

It's weird how Jada is the one that has become the somewhat funnier one in their later years.

Jadas been funny I loved her in Kingdom Come back in 2000.

A return to comedy for will? Im down. It could've been a much more creative choice but it'll work.

I thought it was agreed by the whole world that Murphy was being saved for the live-action Mulan.
