Fantasy Guy Ritchie Directing Disney's Aladdin

Were the same people who are complaining about a "white character being inserted into an unusual environment" complaining about Heimdall in Thor?

Somehow representation is a worthy cause for minority characters but if whites aren't interested in a movie because there isn't a white character it's unacceptable? :funny: I love the special rules people think somehow only apply to one identity group and not all of them.

I reckon he will be there but he might not talk

In guy Ritchie fashion he'll only swear.

This is a deal breaker for me. It like removing Lumiere or Cogsworth from Beauty and the Beast.

To remove the Jasmine's Tiger I can get over. He was not important, but Iago and Abu are a must.

If they don't appear, I lose major interest in this. Already was disappointed with the WAY TO YOUNG Jaffar. And the bad choice for director... this movie is not going well in my book.

At the moment, Ritchie is the biggest question mark. I've never enjoyed his style nor any of his films.

Perhaps Iago will be in it as a non-speaking parrot? Maybe Disney took constructive criticism from Beauty and the Beast how most of the reviews said it was too similar to the original so they're changing things up for this one. Granted, the enchanted objects are more essential to that story than Iago is to Aladdin. Maybe they're just delegating most of the CGI budget for the Genie.

So I hear they may get rid of Raja? They can't get rid of Raja! I love Raja! And I imagine they havent bothered announcing who'll voice Iago since he'll of course be CGI and voiced later.....cause they best not cut him.

Yeah...I'm not really excited for this. Maybe that will change after a trailer or two.

Probably England. :o

It is filming at Longcross Studios outside of London.

They will probably film some exterior location scenes somewhere around the Mediterranean. Morocco, Malta, Italy or Spain being the most likely options.

This isn't the same thing. Representation is literally about representing the real makeup of the world, not inserting a certain ethnic group because viewers won't go see a movie because it doesn't have a member of their race in it. This is a movie set in a time and place without diversity. Forcing a white character in is as dumb as the people saying Dunkirk was "too white".

There were black Norse gods?

Heimdall in Ragnarok doesn't make any sense, and is a waste of Idris Elba to boot. That doesn't change anything in relation to shoehorning a white character into Aladdin.

He'll obviously make Aladdin in the vein of a spiritual sequel to Snatch.
