Gal Gadot is white. LOL....

Gal Gadot is white. LOL....

Ehh not to get into that conversation but based on Gal Gadot's background she has at least as much rights to play someone middle-eastern as the half-indian actress they cast.

Do people forget what part of the world Gal was born?

Her ancestry is Polish, German, Austrian, and Czech. She's as white as Billy Magnussen.

She's still Jewish and that ancestry goes back to the middle-east millennials ago. Either way she's no more regional appropriate than someone half-english/half-indian.

This is Gal with her more natural hair:

She doesn't look too different from any other attractive girl from Lebanon or Syria for example.

I've been to the middle-east, I've known middle-easterners my whole life and Gal doesn't look any less appropriate than the actress who was cast.

Middle-easterner or Arabs aren't all dark-skinned or look like Indians.

I screamed. Hahahaha.

I guess Natalie Portman also has every right to play Jasmine.

Please don't make this a thing. Every other thread on this board has a similar argument happening right now about something like this.

Not a thing. Let's move on!

So, this is actually coming out BEFORE Lion King? Disney 'bout to **** **** up in 2019.

Mulan is also supposed to come out at some point during that year.
Three remakes of their cartoons, three Marvel movies (including the one that is expected to be the culmination of the entire MCU), the final chapter of the new Star Wars trilogy... 2019 is gonna be busy for Disney.

Scott talks about her Jasmine. It looks like the tiger is getting replaced by a female character.

Additionally, Scott notes the retelling's addition a new character — a handmaiden named Dalia, played by Pedrad — will reveal a much-needed side of Jasmine, whose only "friend" in the animated version was a pet tiger named Rajah.

“I never realized it, but in the animation, Jasmine is really the only female character — isn’t that crazy?” she explains. “The Dalia character is so important to this movie because she’s the only other female character. "

One animal sidekick down, two more to go.

I don't think that means Rajah got the heave ho. I'm sure you can fit both in.

And I like that they decided to add in more women characters

Plus these were my 2 favourites from classic Disney animation. Can’t believe they are coming out so close to each other!

Didn't they cast the leads for this ages ago? There was a whole thing about finding people who could act & sing who were from a particular ethnicity?

I like Smith, but if it would've meant we get CG Abu, Rajah and Iago I would've said go with Seth MacFarlane, ****.

It's Disney. They're not hurting for cash.

That won't stop them from wanting to save cash. Will Smith asking price for the Dumbo live action film was too much for them wasn't it? Aladdin film production can afford him and sacrifices had to be made.
