Fantasy Guy Ritchie Directing Disney's Aladdin

To follow up on the Jafar conversation, for me it's not the age that I feel is the problem (I get and understand why they made Jafar younger, and I'm okay with that aspect), I just don't feel the menace or sinister-ness from this particular actor. And maybe that's the way they wanted it, maybe they wanted him to be a more subtle villain (at least initially) rather than like it was in the cartoon where the moment you saw Jafar you knew he was the bad guy. As always, I'll reserve my final judgement until I see the film (opinions can always change), just saying that right now... I'm not quite feeling him

I mostly loved the trailer, but Aladdin CAN'T SING to save his life, and Jafar wasn't as impactful on screen as he NEED's to be. Will Smith was surprisingly really good.

Jafar being good looking could help with his villainy, not looking so obviously evil.

Also Will looks fine now for me, especially with the smoke effects.

Lol, what? I must've heard something else because he sounded great to me.

Looks awesome  Always was looking forward to this and still am very excited for it. Couple more months can’t wait to check it out.

awesome. that is all i was waiting for.

IDK

Like i like the trailer and Naomi Scott is bae (is that actually her singing because it almost sounded like OG Jasmine's singing voice?) but I'm thinking this might end up being a rental or a plane movie for me.

May is just soo packed and I was looking forward too this one a lot...

He can barely hold a note on his own - you can hear it when he is synchronizing with Jasmine.

Good trailer and the best one so far but this may be an eventual Disney + watch for me

Wasted opportunity but don't know if Will would've wanted to go that route, haha.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was more to that scene. Will Smith talked about infusing a lot of himself into the role, specifically that 1990-1996 period.

Better trailer but it didn’t blow me away or anything. I will watch it opening day but I can’t say I’m hyped for the movie.

I wish when the Genie made a prince for Aladdin, it had been Will Smith in his Fresh Prince outfit. Suitcase and all!

It's very probable that they save that for the movie. No way they'd reveal that in a trailer.

I can understand that. They've shown enough for me to see it in cinemas (although I guess I probably would have anyway out of loyalty to the original - my favourite classic animated Disney film) and I'm much more interested after this trailer.

I didn’t think the new trailer was much better than the last, to tell you the truth. Jasmine isn’t in it much, Aladdin has one facial expression, Jafar isn’t making an impression, and Will Smith is playing himself - again. Maybe the effects are better, but this looks just as bland and cheesy as it always has IMO.

I’m happy y’all enjoyed it though, I’m not trying to rain on the parade.

Why would people expect Will Smith to play anything but himself here? It's the nature of the role. Robin Williams put his own steez all over Genie. Will is just doing the same.

It’s not that it’s unexpected, it’s that it’s nothing new from him at this point. I love Smith as an actor, but what’s exciting about him playing himself? He does it all the time. I never wanted him to copy Robin Williams, but it would’ve been nice to see him break out of his comfort zone a little.

Not for this I don’t think. The exciting part of casting Will Smith as the Genie is because we want to see Will Smith as the Genie.

We want to see him take his brand of humour to 11 with something like this.

Just as you wouldn’t have wanted Robin Wiiliams to go outside his comfort zone when he was voicing the character. You wanted Robin Williams dialed to 11.

Actually I think that is Will Smith in the background. The colors looks like something Will would wear

It was alright. Aladdin was never my favorite Disney movie as a kid so I've always been kinda lukewarm on this.

I couldn't tell who was in the background but the colors and voice, I assumed it was meant to be a joke about Prince or something
