Fantasy Guy Ritchie Directing Disney's Aladdin

Another name I hear being suggested is Avan Jogia. I had to google him too. He's young enough, and he also looks the part, maybe even the most like the character.

Hah would never have guessed Guy Ritchie would have gotten the gig. Ah well we shall see how it turns out. Excited to see a live action Aladdin either way

An Aladdin movie done in Guy Ritchie style. I'm not sure how well that'll work .

Aladdin is my favorite Disney film of all time. I guess, I have no choice but to follow this one.

I'm certainly not against Guy Ritchie as a director. I feel like some people here imagine Aladdin will be literally like:
-Where?
-Agrabah.
-Agrabah?
-Agrabah.
-Agrabah?
-Yes. Yes, Agrabah. You know - sultans, viziers, magic lamp, bad food, hotter than hot, Princess ******* Jasmine - Agrabah!

Since the story is about a street urchin and a thief, Guy Ritchie can work. I doubt he will be oblivious to the idea, that it's a kids movie in the first place.

Hmm... What about the various productions of the play? Could they pull cast from that?

Guy Ritchie is a perfect match for Aladdin, if you ask me!

Actress Aiysha Hart would make a good Jasmine. She is of middle eastern ancestry.

Yeah, Riz Ahmed would be perfect.

Which means they'll cast Brenton Thwaites.

Anyone but Brenton Thwaites. Hollywood needs to stop trying to make that guy happen.

Aladdin is my absolute favorite Disney film, and I can see a Guy Ritchie Aladdin being awesome. So I'm in atleast until they mess up the casting.I think Baz Luhrman would be a better choice though. They need to let him do a Disney remake.

Thwaites was pretty good in The Signal but just seeing him in the TRAILER for Gods of Egypt made me hope he drops off the face of the earth.

Hi Jeff, nice to see your input.

Outside of acting Riz Ahmed is primarily known for his rapping side projects which don't include a huge amount of singing.

He has his solo rap work as Riz MC. One half of rap duo Swet Shop Boys and one half of EDM duo Halflife.

Here is track Subtle from his Halflife partnership with Dubstep DJ Distance.

He was ok in Son of a Gun and The Signal. Average in The Giver, Maleficent and Oculus. Awful in Gods of Egypt.

He is one of those actors that the Hollywood machine seems to be behind despite there not being much interest or buzz behind him.

Thwaites is also in the new POTC film.

The first thing that popped into my head after reading Disney's Aladdin and Guy Ritchie was *this makes perfect sense*! :woot:

I always wonder how that happens with some actors. I remember for a while they tried to make Alex Pettyfer happen until they realized he was a mediocre actor that no one gave two sh**s about. They also tried it with Luke Hemsworth and Jai Courtney. And they'll keep trying. Some fatcat producer picks a name out of a hat and its like, "WE GOTTA MAKE A STAAAARRRRR OUTTA THIS GUY!"

It is pretty much down to Hollywood's desperate attempts to create more white male movie stars. Agents, producers, casting directors and industries types over hype particular actors. The movie industry types cast them in prominent or lead roles expecting it will make them stars but often the general public is just indifferent.

Some actors naturally generate buzz that leads to lead roles due to their talent. They might have a acclaimed role or performance in a tv show or indie movie that leads to them getting cast in Hollywood stuff which is the opposite of the industry chosen stars who largely get roles with no buzz to back the hype.

I feel like they needed another Will Smith type persona for ID4: Resurgence to get that ball rolling. It was so damn boring.

A lot of people said they missed Will Smith's charisma in that movie.

Liam Hemsworth is the blandest of the three Hemsworth brothers.

Will Smith as the genie. That would be fantastic, and different enough from Robin Williams that people won't compare them.

Aladdin: I'll do it...I'll wish you free.

Fresh Genie: Ha-haaaaa!
