Ritchie will have to be careful. In 2018/2019 he can't get away with making a live-action Aladdin movie with a primarily white or British white cast.

No amount of arguments of there being people with genetically white features in the Middle-East will be able defend this movie from that reality. Just saying.

Look. Hollywood cast Scarlett Johansson as Motoko Kusanagi, and social media and the media never let anyone forget it. Gods of Egypt having a cast filled of primarily white actors wasn't a good look for the film when it was released.

I'm pretty sure Disney already said they are looking for middle eastern actors. Disney is committed to getting Chinese actors for the live action Mulan movie.

After Gods Of Egypt and Ghost In The Shell I think studios will probably think twice about who they hire for these roles.

Pakistan/India are in South Asia and not the Middle East. I think there will probably be backlash if they cast a South Asian actor as Middle Eastern Arab character.

Agrabah is located near the Jordan River in the Disney animated movie.

I would bet that most young people, especially SJW, don't know about that and only know Aladdin because of the original Disney cartoon and it's desert Arabic styled setting. So if they cast a white skinned person or even an asian person SJWs and others will lose their ****. It will be annoying as **** having to listen to that and read about their "outrage" every time the film is mentioned.

Usually I'm not big on the whole whitewashing thing (I liked Iron Fist and didn't mind at all that they cast a white actor, mainly because the character was white in the first place.) But in this case if they do cast white actors in this film that would be extremely offensive. The beauty of stories like these is the fact that it takes audiences to different places and cultures.

In any event, if they want to limit their scope strictly to Arabic or Persian actors, they'll have little trouble finding a male lead who can sing who has some of that ancestry; there's a ton of undiscovered talent like that on Broadway or on the West End. The main box office draw will be Genie anyway, they can pretty much hire unknowns for the rest.

I could see Omid Djalili as the Sultan.

Agrabah is a fictional city, but it's set in Arabia, and it's based on real-life cities such as Baghdad, Agra, and Aquaba.

I find it hard to believe there aren't some capable song and dance performers of Middle Eastern or Arabic descent in the US or England.

Once again they are going to have to do this or it's a dialogue that will follow the film through its release.

Genie is probably the one role where they can get away with casting someone who isn't Middle Eastern or Arabic.

Normally, I try to keep an open mind about stuff like this. I have no problem with Scarjo as Major Kusanagi, I had no problem with the characters in Cloud Atlas. But I hate it when the **** around with real people like this. And there's clearly an agenda at work when this only happens to Asian/oriental people. Like audiences can't except that an Asian-American was a hero in WW2.

I don't think we have that to worry about from Disney. Look at Moana for instance, an animated film, but other than the non-verbal rooster, the entire cast was of Pacific Islander descent. It was such a pleasant surprise when I looked up the cast online when watching the film. If anything, Disney had the opposite problem with the live action Beauty and the Beast in that the cast was unrealistically diverse for 17th century provincial France.

It's the Sun so chances are that it is BS. She is of Yemeni/Egyptian ancestry on her mother's side and can sing/do accents so wouldn't be a bad pick.
