Fantasy Guy Ritchie Directing Disney's Aladdin

Just on the cave of wonders, it better actually move and not just be a cave or I’m calling the police.

But yeah it looks great. Beautiful scenery, dying to know what mena does after this. Hope he gets a ton of roles

I wish people were talking about other things than how the cave looks.

It appeals directly based on what you know and remember. This movie isn't going to do anything new except for tangible details that will smooth over what idiots online nitpick over as "flaws" and be sure to be modern. I'm betting money that the new character for the tiger will be a modern character who will say modern things and people online will just fawn over it.

Is it just me or does the population not really talk about these remakes like the original films? I don't think these films have endured. Mainly because it's a reheat of what we've already seen and it's disposable. You see it, aren't disappointed and go home and have dinner. It's like a watching a procedural television show. You know what you're going to get.

Obviously this isn't quite a 1:1 comparison, but as a musician I tend to liken these movie remakes to a scenario in which a musician/artist will redo a classic song that they or someone else is known for. Some of my favorite versions of songs are remakes/covers; depends on how much you're familiar with the original work and if you appreciate a new spin being put on it (and what that spin is). In that respect, even though I personally didn't watch most of these Disney cartoons that they're redoing, I don't see this remake trend as completely without artistic merit.

That's not to say that the path Disney's currently going down isn't fueled in large part by "Hey, let's just make money off our most popular things", but like I said, I think the amount of potential buzz and staying power depends on both the kinds of stories being released and who they're marketed towards. Obviously most of these remakes are banking more heavily on the nostalgia of older audiences rather than necessarily impressing a new generation of kids, and the medium in which they're told might catch older viewers who are unfamiliar with the cartoons (like myself), so of course they'll have less endurance in the cultural zeitgeist unless they provide hugely different experiences.

Yeah, Elliot and Rossio are veterans of classic comedic Disney dialouge. They wrote the first three POTC flicks and a couple other animated ones for Disney.
I saw that tweet. Honestly, regardless on how anyone feels about this remake, I think he's just upset no one's given him and his buddy work since Lone Ranger tanked.

As a big fan of the animated classic, I can't wait to see Carpet in this movie. After Robin Williams' Genie, it was probably my next favorite character.

oh man i didn't even think about the carpet, thats gonna be amazing

i kind of want the part where aladdin goes "Abu this is no time to panic" *Sees dead end* *Dead pan* Start panicking

Well John August is co writing wihw Ritchie so the dialogue will probably be kinda smart alecky.

is anything known how the Genie will Look alike in the Live Action Aladdin ? is it a CGI Creation or just Will Smith in Costume ?

Smith will do the voice work for a Harryhausen era stop motion genie.
