Gwen Stacy: love interest?

Now, I will be the first one to admit that I've been loving The Spectacular Spider-Man. In fact, I find myself to be really enjoying this MUCH more than the 90's cartoon.

I do have one problem/concern about the direction that the show is heading, though. Have the writers been aiming for Gwen Stacy to be one of Peter's love interests? If so, then I don't believe that they have done a very convincing job at it.

Here are the things that lead me to believe what I believe:

• Gwen acts more like an Aunt May clone than a friend ... And Peter more or less treats her as such. She sure does like to nag a lot, which doesn't convince me that she and Peter could develop a romantic connection.
• When Mary Jane was introduced in the show, I assumed that a love triangle involving Gwen would happen. Black Cat's appearance in the show has led me to believe otherwise. With this other female character in the picture, it seems to me that Gwen is being pushed more and more out of the picture.

Now, I could be totally wrong about this, especially since there's a lot more of the show to come out. Perhaps the introduction of Venom will change things with Gwen, since she plays a part with Eddie Brock's boiling anger towards Peter.

Anyway, what are your thoughts about this? Agree? Disagree? I want to know what everyone thinks.

Right now Pete's shown an interest in Mary Jane, Liz Allen, and Betty Brant.
Gwen seems to be the reliable old friend who he's used to, and takes for granted. It'll definitely take something happening for him to even notice that she has feelings for him. Possibly his fight with Brock.

Sure, for the time being, Peter doesn't seem to consider Gwen like a "woman" but like an old friend. The Venom arc could change things, I think. Anybody here thinks that we coud have a development like in USM, with her ending up living with Peter and her aunt??? I don't know if this show is "serious" enough to involve the kind of story that lead to this in USM (about the b**** that is her mother...).

In an interview, they said that Gwen will slowly progress into the lovely, hot lady we knew in the comics. They wanted to SHOW the progression from nerd to Smokin!

I don't know... for Peter's eyes to be "like these", as you say, the change would have to be drastic, sudden and surprising. If she slowly changes and Peter is still around here to witness it "slowly" too, wouldn't he get accustomed to it over time? But if they don't see each other for a long time, then that scene could occur t:

well since they are fans of the classics we are bound do see relationships between peter and liz, peter and mj, and peter and gwen at various points in the series. Plus we have no clue how much brock/venom will be showing up after the season finale at this point in time.

From what we know Venom is likely to be in the full episode which is episode 13 and we likely see brock get turned into venom at the end of episode 12. I was saying we have no clue how often we will see brock/Venom appearing post season 1.

I think they might do a homage from the movie but, Venom get destroyed differently.

well yea i personally dont want to see them kill brock i would like either peter some how removes the symboite from him and think he destroyed the symboite but it runs off and can return at a later time. Then brock gets sent to jail/loony bin so he could return at a later time. Or maybe they cant separate the symboite from brock so peter defeats venom and the cops/shield lock him up with the symboite in a high tech prision cell.

Mary jane!! It obviously simple. Peter always been involve with her,Comic,movies so it has to be mary jane.

well yes mj is the one he does/did end up with in the comics but he also was with gwen too. So for all we know they could have peter have relationships for variety of time with liz, gwen and mj.

Well i dont know if they are going to do carnage in this series, i think i heard Greg doesnt want to do him. If Venom is jailed/ symboited destroyed(or so we think) we are likely just ot see it hiding out and then at some point return to eddie.

Well, IMO, I think they are handleing Peter & Gwens' relationship perfectly. I mean, Peter and Gwen haven't really hooked up yet, but I think I see see a bright future for them being togeather. Most likely season 2 or 3.

Well yea i would like to see peter at least care more about Gwen,it really pissed me off to see Peter leaving poor Gwen like that but peter is somehow going to see that side of her and his-self
