The Force Awakens Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma

That picture actually looks a lot like Boba Fett's classic still:

Yup, so the person who mentioned that the same stance for Phasma was a female stance (can you be anymore sexist?) was wrong.

Great find.

We need to get past the thing thing society say's is the norm. Why can't a male stand the same way as a female, vise versa, etc.

Why can't Jaden Smith wear a dress without being laughed at? it is just unreal at what society considers "NORM"

oh! hear i go again ....... I am just sick of this stuff.

I can't believe I was able to find black series Phasma at Walgreens last week. My jaw almost hit the floor when I saw it, I thought it would take me months to find one.

Even as a kid, I've always thought that Boba's lower half wasn't as well designed as the top half.

"Here's some cargo pants and some knee pads."

As someone who's worn both Jango and Boba costumes, Boba's is actually one of the most comfortable ones since there's a lot less restriction. Perfect for the field he's in :woot:

Holy crap! Just did a bit of googling on GC and I had no idea she is over 6'3" tall...
She is going to make an imposing Captain Phasma!

It wasn't until recently I found that out too... and was shocked when I saw this pic.

Yeah, she'll make an awesome villain - imposing stature, cool name, all that jazz.

My only gripe is whether or not Abrams and Kasdan have intended to make Phasma's gender an enigma, or if it'll be a matter of obliviousness. Being one of the only guys in the audience who'll KNOW it's Christie portraying the character - and don't get me wrong, I'd love to hit my head against a wall and fall to the ground like a sack of Jawa brains - it's just something bothering me.

Perhaps the concern has been noted and it isn't a Fincher-twist or anything (it isn't like the plot is revolving solely on Phasma!)

Also, the comparisons made between her and Boba really are uncanny - the rugged, sinister and lazy posture is obviously a direct reflect of Boba! It'll be a great film.

I never got around to watching that show, is it any good?

Yes, it's one of my favorite shows. But don't watch it unless you're over 18 and can handle the stuff they shown on this series.

Do you think her character will be a mute? Even if she doesn't take her helmet off, she's going to speak which will make her gender obvious.

Voice processor - Vader had one as his larynx was damaged extensively; we aren't even sure if Phasma has life support armor or processing units, which could further accentuate the mystery of her character. I mean, some people will be aware that Christie is Phasma so, again, I'm not sure if it'll be a plot secret.

Haha she's 6'3. it's hard not to notice her height on Game of Thrones.

I must say she is quite fetching when not in character as Brienne of Tarth (which I was extremely surprised to find out).

She is gonna be the bad-ass field commander, like one of the mandalorian warrior woman like we seen in the Clone Wars. Except as big and bad as Kylo Ren.

hope Phasma is as much of a badass as Christie's character on Game of Thrones

LOL. Phasma look like she could squash Boba Fett like a bug.

Also. If they every get around to making a Forgotten Realms: Drizzt Do'Urden movie (they never will, but what the hell), I want Gwendolen cast as Matron Malice Do'Urden.

LA Times - Gwendoline Christie is such a warrior, she even fought to be in 'Star Wars'

Of her role in "Star Wars," Christie can say only that though Captain Phasma is a supporting character, she will exert considerable force on the story. "She is a Boba Fett-style character," the actress said, "which means she makes a lot of impact but she's not at the forefront of the action all the time."

So Phasma is going to be the "Boba Fett" of this movie. I just hope she receives better treatment than Boba did in Return of the Jedi.

Also, I just found out Gwendoline Christie is 6'3". I'm 6'3". I don't care if I'm a guy, I want to dress up as Captain Phasma for next year's Halloween or Star Wars related.
