The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Had an interesting convo this week... (Spoiler)

Carnage is kind of a dumb idea for a villain in a Spider-Man movie anyway. His claim to notoriety is murdering tons of people. Yeah, perfect for a PG-13 movie wherein kids make up a large percentage of the audience.

Unless of course you want to water the character down and end up with what they did in the 90's animated series...

Even with his views on violence I can still see him being Cletus.

Kick-Ass is a very violent movie where even the good guys are over the top violent and serial killers themselves. I think that is what had Carrey bothered. The sheer amount of violence is the movie itself not in any particular character. Now where is this it would be a straight evil character which Spidey has to stop Good guy/bad guy style. I think that would be a little different.

That being said, he'd make an awesome J.J.

The Green Goblin disintegrated an entire board of directors, tried to kill a group of kids by dropping them off a bridge, beat the bloody hell out of Peter then got shish kebab'd into a brick wall.

PG-13 was approved.

I think they'll find a way around it, Vid.

Carnage is still alot worse than that. He basically wants to slaughter everyone, for fun. That's what Carnage does. There's no way to hide that in a PG-13 movie without making it look ridiculous (he's slaying loads of people but you still can't see his deeds).

Still, Carnage is a pretty one dimensional villain anyways.

He's dependent on Venom. Another headache to worry about. A ying-yang type of thing. Brock still has his humanity deep down, Cletus does not.

Huge advertising potential though... Oh my, I'm turning into Avi.

Yeah, I don't think Carnage is a smart idea. He really isn't that great of a character. Thee are many better choices for potential villains in sequels. Ones that has the opportune of more fulfilling storylines. You can't really sympathize with Kletus at all. The story would be way too one dimensional. Works for comics, but wouldn't want to see it in a movie.

Spidey and Venom vs. Sinister 6 and Carnage. Popcorn please.

He was on Letterman that same day.

if that ever happened.... hulk and rhino and iron man vs octopus and thor vs who? and captain america vs? and spidey vs?

If I was directing a Spider-Man movie series then I would seriously think long and hard before throwing in Carnage. Why? Because he's that much of a horrific character. He kills people for no reason other than it being fun and bringing a smile to his face. If I'm not mistaken, he would smear his victim's blood on walls and spell "Carnage". Also, I wouldn't like that he would have no motivation for doing what he does just for the sake of it. The story would wear out after awhile. Personally, I think Carrey would make a great JJ. I can already hear him screaming "PARKEEEEERR"!!!!

also this rumor was spread so quick i hope his friend wont get into trouble

nah there were pictures of Carrey on set before this thread. The actual news is that his friend has hints toward who Carrey is playing. That was something he was keeping close to the chest.

I'm still hoping that John C McGinley gets to play JJJ. Also I'm new to Superherohype! Been a lurker for many years and just decided to post.

I would love McGinley as JJJ. Welcome to the hype!

Not sure if this article was posted.

Carrey

I can just imagine a Dr. Cox style rant coming from JJJ.

Raimi's JJJ was a throwback characters/caraciture (and an awesome one btw) but John C. as JJJ? That would be a perfect MODERN take on the *****e boss. At least Cox had redeeming qualities. JJJ? You have to really look deep. Real deep. Like, digging a tunnel to Australia in your back yard deep. :yay:
