The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Had an interesting convo this week... (Spoiler)

If Carnage were to show up in this franchise, Matthew Lillard all the way.

Mike?

I love Jim Carrey. Yes, the majority of his movies post Eternal Sunshine have been utter crap (though I liked his Number 23 flick), that will never take away the countless hours I've laughed watching him in the 90s. I fully agree with anyone who says that he is an incredibly diverse and talented actor.

That being said...he is one of those actors whom you don't watch to see the role he's playing...you watch the film to see "Jim Carrey", if that makes any kind of sense. I'm concerned that the baggage of OMFG IT'S JIM CARREY being in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 would overshadow the character he's playing, or worse, the movie itself.

I completely disagree. Fun with Dick and Jane and Yesman are both terribly underrated comedies. He was phucking fenomenal in Lemony Snicket (and wasn't the only good part about the film) and A Christmas Story is also great.

I guess what I mean by that is his appearance could take you OUT of the movie and/or hurt the experience if not done well. I don't want to watch this movie and see the actor, I want to only see/think of the character. It's very hard for me to do that with Jim Carrey.

I didn't like Dick and Jane, nor Yesman. I'll freely admit that he was good as Lemony, and though there were some other good things in that movie (ie art direction), it was an utterly forgettable film (this is actually the first time I've even thought about that movie since I saw it in theaters so long ago).

Introducing Cletus before or without Eddie is so unlikely. Not to mention introducing Eddie before or without Jameson. idk. just seems that way to me.

ahem. [blackout]Tell that to Gobby.[/blackout]

Just saying.

False.

I've seen him in "The Perfect Score", "Without a Paddle", "She's all That".

Doesn't impress me.

His best performance was probably SLC Punk. He also did well in Scream and Hackers is a personal favorite.

He has too many air-headed movies. Says a lot about his versatility.

Lillard is pretty good on "The Bridge" but he's been doing a lot of schlocky direct-to-video stuff too lately. I don't see him as Cletus however. And if anything, if Carrey is Cletus it'd be a quick 5-10 second glimpse, and then *poof* or if he's someone else it'll probably be an after-the-credits scene reveal like Massee in the first film.

I think with all they're trying to do to jam all this stuff into one suitcase, Carrey will not overshadow the film because his role will not be as ample as people think it will be. I feel they would save him for later.

Lillard ias actually a pretty good actor. I wouldn't mind seeing him in Spidey film.

Though not necessarily as Cletus Kasady.

I think he'd be better for like Ned Leeds or Ben Urich.

You just hash tagged a post. I don't know how to react to this...

I've done it here before. My way of being a bit ridiculous and humorous. Not sure if it works lol.

Worked fine man, just pulling your leg is all.
