From the same guy who tweeted that:
I bet more than a few sites are feeling really stupid right now.
Probably. Because they posted as a straight up fact rather than a rumor until proven legit.
If it was a hoax by Dragon, I can't say I didn't see it coming.
Admittedly, I went along with it like everyone else (he had me very well duped), but I had a nagging suspicion about it. It was made a legitimate concern when I pm'd Dragon the link to that instagram/twitter post, prior to it being posted here. I wanted to see if it was posted by his friend or just provided confirmation of his story.
He immediately stopped posting here after that.
So I think I caught him in his lie. Be it creating a fake story about what he didn't know was a hoax in and of itself, or reporting what he knew was fake and twisting it to make us believe it, dig further, and inevitably gain it exposure..
I mean, why else would he post the name of the "well known actor" with a "household name", but not the character which, in retrospect, would've been a lower profile scoop then saying the actor playing it is Jim Carrey?
Attaching Carrey's name would make it a scoop the likes of which could be picked by tons of sites, rather than being a scoop that would remain relegated to cbm and movie sites had he just said the character.
