So here is a question that hopefully has not been asked yet. If Hancock becomes popular should they just create a whole new universe or see if Marvel or DC would want to buy him & he can eventually join the Justice League or Avengers

I'm afraid no one can answer that, my friend. I personally think that if either brand or both offer to purchase the rights to 'Hancock', the company will decline due to repeated success.

It was more of a hypothetical question to see what the comic fans here would think of joining DC or Marvel. There is money to be made if Hancock was a part of the eventual Avengers movie by Marvel

Okay, nitpicking is not my thing when it comes to movies but this kind of bothered me...

When Hancock threw that kid like thousands of feet up into the air and then catches him...shouldn't the kid have died?
His body deflects bullets for christ's sake and he breaks through concrete and metal highway signs like its nothing.

i think he flys with him up and then comes before him down.
but yeah i agree. no matter how you turn it. there is no way that the kid could survive. but at least this looks more like a comedy.

What does THAT mean? Hancock is a movie... simple as that. There may be some comic book tie-ins, but other than that... it's a damn movie. :woot:

so if charlize theron is the villain then he will have to fight a women. the question now is how will they do that.
we all know that hollywood doenst like to show man fighting women.

as long as the woman in question is a rampaging psycho **** its ok....this film looks interesting and I think Jason Bateman is becoming a comedic great....loved his part in Dodgeball

I was about to write that aswell. He's GREAT in Dodgeball. It so cracks me up just watching his expressions... while he's chewing that gum... :woot:

I was watching the dvd commentary and apparently the outfit was his idea....originally he was just supposed to be a color commentator, dressed like Gary Cole was....but since they were making fun of ESPN a little he decided to do the spiky hair and the whole bit....."Pepper needs new shorts!!!"

even the little part he had in "The Sweetest Thing" was fantastic....singing 'Eternal Flame' at the reception..fantastic

Let's see how the movie turns out before talking franchises....Will Smith seems to think the film will do well....

I think the character is more suited to Marvel... but I don't see why he can't just be a stand-alone hero.

Have you seen 'Live Free or Die Hard'?!...:woot:

I gather from the trailer he isn't from Earth, so I'm guessing Hancock is what Superman would have been if he was raised by DBags as opposed to good folk like the Kents

I think he's probably from earth. A one of a kind special human.

You know at first I wasn't very keen seeing this film, but after watching the trailer I would like to see this film. I really think it can bring something different to the table iin the superhero film genre. Hey it isn't Dark Knight or Iron-Man, but this could be something where we don't have a lot of back history and just follow it from there.With Batman and Iron-Man you expext certain things to stay true to it's comic origins, where this is not.

Any chance Bateman's character is the 'bad guy'? Think about it;
Hancock bangs his wife.
We find out that;
a) condom isn't superhero-proof
b) the, err, deed provides certain attributes, and
she gets superpowers

And the best thing that can happen to a superhero's agent? Your superhero saving the universe/world/city!!!

So, blackmail/trick/drug/pay
superCharlize
into attacking the city. Viola - huge publicity regardless of which way the fight goes...

Bateman = Bad, bad man (would this be a first, Bateman being the villian?)

Hey, just throwing it out there.

And I'm watching this - I just want to have fun when I watch movies, and this movie looks like it'll provide heaps!

I like that early reviews say it gets 'serious' for the last 20 minutes or so, sounds like the climax is going to be an intense battle. The trailer hints at it with the 'Hancock is down, he looks hurt' line.

I kind of hope that Hancock is basically the black version of Superman but with a few differences. His home planet could still be around & how & why Hancock ends up on Earth could be a mix of Superman & Dune. On his home planet his family is royalty & the planet gets divided into war & Hancock family eventually gets over thrown & put in jail or something & the last thing Hancock parents do is send him to Earth so that he can grow up & learn about his powers on a better planet & eventually come back home to take back the planet & save his family

Hell no.
