Again that is your opinion, but I would venture to say that the majority of people disagree with you:oldrazz:

I really don't know whats to hate about Bad Boys 1 or 2 to be honest. The films accomplished what they set out to do. They were entertaining action films, with some real funny moments. I don't think it set out to win oscars. Also I personally loved Enemy of the State, thought it was a pretty good thriller with good performances from Smith and Hackman.

Others, I Am Legend I thought was a good film, people get so hung up on the source material. I could honestly care less how the book ended. I enjoyed this ending. While I agree the CGI wasn't spectacular, I don't think it hindered the film. With Hitch I thought it was a good romantic comedy and Smith and Mendes had some pretty good chemistry together.

never been a fan of cop movies... esp black comedy action type shoot em up films (hate most shootem up films though). Also not usually a fan of govermental flicks so for those i am indeed biased.

I Am legend was a good film aside from the really crappy CG. It however shat upon the book... the book was sooo much better and more entertaining.

if you've ever read the book... you would too

I love the book. I dont hate the movie cause thefirst 3/4 i thought were really good. But its totally understandable that the book fans would completely despise the movie. I dontknow why people are so surprised.

You hated I am Legend?! First one that I've seen! :whatever:

And Hancock I prefer to watch before say something.

really? most of my friends didn't care for the movie either... 2 read the book and are both horror fans... didnt care for it... i've read the book and in most cases im pretty balanced with my genre's i like a little bit of everything, just less in gang or cop or war films, 2 friends are in the movie industry and kept calling it a toned down 28days later (which it pretty much was). It was just a mediocre film, you really didnt gain or lose anything by watching it... I prefer movies that make you think and really let you reflect, I Am Legend was just rehashed ideas that have been done before...

now if the ending was like in the book were Nevile realises the vampiric infection becomes the norm and is the new human race and he has become the murderous hunter, the "legend" like we tell of vampires... which is what the whole title of the book/movie stems from:whatever:.... it would have been a much better movie. It lets you think a whole bunch more... but unfortunately the majority of general audiences don't like to think.

I think you really have to try hard to hate Will Smith. Really, you do. Most movies he's been in, even if they bombed, he did a decent job in, he has a likeable presence. That's all that is.

o i definately agree, he truely is a great actor, i just don't think his draw of blockbusters have been as great as they were in the 90's... most have seemed sorta lack luster to me, more dissapointment then anything, but his acting has nothing to do with it... its the movies themselves

ya, i know most movies don't follow books very well.. but it astounds me that the movie they created doesn't fit with the title now... lol, Neville found the cure and died.. whee! *yawn* too much of a hollywood ending... the books was soooooo much more deep :D

The reason why Neville was a legend was far more creative and interesting than the movie's reasoning and the fact that they changed pissed me off the most. The other stuff was cool to see with plenty of intense and/or emotional scenes from Will. Basically, after he talks to the adult film mannequin the film went way downhill.

So you hated the movie for not being like the book?

What about the movie as itself? Minus the book from the equation?

Like I said early first 3/4 were great which actually says alot considering the entire movie not just the ending was pretty far away from the book. But when a Last Man on Earth Story involves more than one person, thats stupid.

That's what I do. I think that books can not make the transition to the silver screen without there being changes. That's why they are called adaptations. Now, I know that some don't agree with this, but that's how I do it. I watch a film without any bias, then judge it based on it's own merit, because when bias is put into the equation, the critique of the film is no longer valid.

...but that's just me. I'm just telling it how it is. No flamewars wanted.

I second and third this post. Secirded.

Enemy of the State is a favorite of mine because it puts across that culture of paranoia we all live in.....I was ambivalent about I am Legend...I didn't hate it

I really hate when people get irritated or annoyed or even hate a movie for whenever it does something different than the book as if it even matters.

I guess some people look at movie adaptations differently than others. To me, a movie is a movie and a book is a book. It's nice where you can take a book, translate it into a movie and make it a good movie. It's only a bonus if they manage to keep close to original material.

And a story is a story despite the medium. The ending was horrible. The original last man on Earth story became the last man in New York, and the monsters became generic when they were so more creative in the book. After Neville crashed his car on the dock the movie became so bland.

I'm not making excuses for the film or anything like that. I'm just talking in general. Heck, they could've used the original ending and still screwed up.

But in general if the movie has so little to do with the book why even adapt the book. They could have named this movie anything and not give credit to Matheson and no one will know.

Caught Hancock a couple of weeks back at a screening here in L.A.

It was weak. Real weak. It will make some cash because it's a Will Smith 4th of July deal, but not nearly as much as past years, especially once the word gets out. They're promoting this thing like it's a big-time superhero action flick and I can tell you it ain't. Not even close.

There it is folks. Hancock will suck.

i can easily do that too... but not when they change something for the worse... changing at an even or better change i wont mind. in the case of I Am Legend, changing the ending suddenly made the title of the movie pointless and the movie less special. I go by "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"
