Did some of you actually think a sequel to The Hangover would be a different story than them getting drugged and retracing their steps to find out what happened the night before?

WTF were some of you expecting?

That's very true. I mean no wonder we all had trouble trying to come up with a different story.

Personally...I expected a similar storyline under different circumstances.

Like, honestly, I figured they would do something like Alan going on a trip to Thailand on his own, gets into some trouble, the guys show up to bail him out and/or escape and spend the duration of the movie finding out what he did while running from the people Alan supposably wronged. Most likely a mafia type gang.

Something like that. Like I said, I expected the same type of story beats per se...I simply expected the circumstances to be different.

Having it be exactly the same kind of threw me off. But i'm still looking forward to it.

I'm also curious what got the trailer yanked. It pushed the boundaries, I guess, but I really didn't think there was anything that outrageous or offensive. Oh well, doesn't really bother me either way.

I will guess that this is a ad stunt. What gets more press and people interested about a raunchy movie than if their trailer gets pulled for being too raunchy?

I just hope the movie is good and the hype from the first film doesn't cause this one to suck.

Well when i saw the trailer before SOurce Code, they took out the word "weenus" lol...

Why did they decide to turn the sequel into an Asian comedy with white dudes? It looks pretty lame to me.

I'm quite curious as to what got this trailer flagged.

It was the last shot of the trailer the MPAA had issues with...the monkey scene.

Apparently, the trailer was a rush job and was not properly reviewed by the board prior to being released.

I guess a monkey simulating "an act" could be offensive to some.

Me? I got a laugh out of it. :awesome:

Everyone (including me) laughed their asses off at that scene in the movie.

It makes sense why the MPAA is pissed at that scene though.

Neeson's cameo has been cut from the film :(

Neeson 'Hangover' cameo cut, re-shot
Nick Cassavetes has been re-cast in the role

EXCLUSIVE: Liam Neeson's cameo as a Bangkok tattoo artist in "The Hangover Part II" has been cut, director Todd Phillips exclusively told Variety, and Nick Cassavetes has been re-cast in the role that was originally envisioned for Mel Gibson.
Phillips explained that the Thailand-set sequel "follows a similar structure to the first 'Hangover,' in that it is a mystery/investigation comedy" with interlocking scenes.

While editing, Phillips chose to cut the scene that immediately followed Neeson's cameo, meaning it no longer had the information necessary to logically get the Wolf Pack (Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms) to what became the next scene.

Three weeks ago, Phillips decided to reshoot the scene, but with Neeson in London shooting WB's "Clash of the Titans" sequel, the actor was no longer available.

With the "Hangover" sequel set for release over Memorial Day weekend, Phillips had to hustle to reshoot the scene that became infamous when the cast and crew objected in October to Gibson's casting in the aftermath of his personal and legal troubles. Wanting to keep the good vibe on set, Phillips switched to Neeson.

"We were in a complete time crunch so I called up Nick and asked if he would do the part," Phillips wrote. "He came in and crushed it and that is the scene that you will ultimately see in the film. [I'm excited for everyone] to see the film. It turned out great."

"The Hangover Part II" hits theaters May 26.

that really sucks big time :cmad:

i hope they can at least add that scene onto the dvd as part of bonus material

What a waste. :csad:

The Naked Gun 2 was a rehash of the Naked Gun, stupid cop bumbles his way through stopping an evil plot. Back to the Future II, essentially the same as Back to the Future, Marty effs up the timeline and has to fix it. American Pie 2, pretty much the same as American Pie, guys try to get laid again.

All are good movies. All are funny. That is because they do not leave their original premise. This looks funny to me. Besides, The Hangover was not a winner solely because it was funny. It was a good movie because it had endearing characters with whom the audience could relate and cheer for. I am interested in seeing these characters again. It is a similiar premise, but again, what sequel isn't? It looks funny to me and that's all I can ask for.

Meh. I don't know about your comparisons. Naked Gun 2 was a goof ball comedy just like it's original, however the premise wasn't the same. In the first one Drebin has to stop Vincent Ludwig and his scheme to shoot the queen. The second one he has to save a scientist after major industry heads try to ruin his plans to unveil a new means of energy.

Back to the Future, same thing .... yes he went back in time, but "why" he was going back in time is different.

With The Hangover, it's literally the same premise .... vacation .... complete loss of memory .... losing a key member of the group .... figure out where he is and how to get him back. That's as recycled as it gets. I'm still gonna see it and can't wait for an epic "tranny" scene that you know d*mn well is going to be in this. I'm just a little disappointed that Phillips couldn't tweak the reason for their exploits a bit.

I think the fact that this follows the same kind of story is what could make it hilarious, and what Philips could be going for. Which in its own way, it pretty damn funny if you think about it.

Well ya, Phillips is definitely striving for the "Oh no, not again" theme .... Hope they found a way to really deliver that moment, because I didn't get that from the trailer .... obviously though, just a trailer.

Sucks to hear about the cameo, hopefully it's on the DVD, it would be such a waste not to use it.

Neeson not being in this Sequel so he can film a Sequel that no one wants makes no sense and sucks.

No Neeson?

No Neeson in a film is like no God for Atheists. So in fact, every film without Liam Neeson is soulless and Godless.

Yeah, it's a big gamble. He may not have done it if he didn't think he could do that. He may have found it to work. I just hope it works and it's funny.

Sucks that Neeson won't be in it, but I guess oh well. Hopefully, they do put it on the DVD as an extra.
