BvS Hans Zimmer & Tom Holkenborg scoring Batman v Superman - Part 2

Quite glad to hear he is potentially done with these scores. The man deserves a rest from it and you can tell he has been rather uninspired.

BvS was more junkie than Zimmer to my ears. I didn't like BvS soundtrack at all.

Beautiful Lie and Day of the Dead are gorgeous. Do You Bleed? is also a great action cue featuring the new Batman theme. I still prefer MoS's score, but this one has definitely grown on me.

I'm glad Zimmer is stepping down. He did some great work in TDKT and elsewhere but his sound has become too saturated in the industry and the score to BVS really didn't do it for me. Watching the film it came off as a collection of all his worst tendencies as a composer taken up a notch. Just overbearingly loud and atonal. The only parts I responded well to were, ironically, the cues taken from MOS.

Really bummed we didn't get to hear the Superman theme from the end of MoS. But I can see why Hans didn't use it, they never really gave a scene that was appropriate for it in the movie.

Can't find the part of the score heard when Superman is [BLACKOUT]punching Doomsday into space while the nuke is headed straight for them[/BLACKOUT] anywhere on the soundtrack, a shame since it was one of my favorite parts of the score.

Didn't really care for the score much, to be honest. I like it well enough on its own, but it didn't fit the movie very well, imo. WW's random electric guitar theme was an odd choice.

Anybody know if the cue that plays anytime [BLACKOUT]Kryptonite[/BLACKOUT] appears made into onto the score release? I personally haven't found it, but it was one of my favorite parts of the film's score.

I gave the score another listen after seeing the film. Still think it's ok, but not as good as the MOS one. And some of the music actually made me laugh due to remember what was going on in the film.

Hey people

Someone on youtube put up a piano cover with downloadable midi for ''A beautiful lie'' so heck , I took it and made a combo cover with guitar + piano

Check it out :)

It's on ''Blood of my Blood'

Sucks that Zimmer is done with CBM means that CBM are going to have much worse music now and the WW theme in this movie was epic!

I would have loved to hear his Aquaman, though this could be even better. The trinity shares some of the same notes in their music, but the others would have their own feel to them. Kind of poetic to me.

Been listening to the OST everyday for the past week and I'm so in love with it.

Saw the movie a second time today. This score gets better in context with the scenes with every viewing.

Just absolute perfection. Nothing else to say.

I'm not completely sold on Zimmer retiring from the superhero genre. Taking a hiatus from it maybe. I doubt he'd refuse to score anymore superhero movies if any of his collaborators (Nolan, Ron Howard, Verbinski, James L. Brooks etc.) or even a director he's dreamed of working with are involved in any. Especially if those specific collaborators offer him the composer gig.

What do people think of David Arnold taking a crack at one of these movies? I think he did some good work on Bond and his work on Sherlock is excellent. One of his great strengths is creating an atmosphere with his scores. The train sequence in Casino Royale for instance creates a very elegant and lush atmosphere that reflects the scene really well all while making nice use of the title track. I think he'd be able keep the existing Trinity themes while adding his own twist effectively since he's used to doing it with the Bond cues. As much as I'm a huge fan of Zimmer and I loved Junkie's work on Mad Max but it might be time for a DC film that doesn't have a score that assaults your ear drums with noise. A more classic, less bombastic approach may be a nice change.

It's a motif for Krypton that originated in Man of Steel.

All I really liked from this film was Beautiful Lie and Is She With You. It'seems probably good that he takes a break. There's a part of me that thinks that most of the heroes should have themes from different composers working with different directors. Instantly recognizable themes for every member of the JL would be great....and a new Batman theme. Something quieter. I'm a little worried that whoever composes JL will be responsible for the themes of three JL members at once.

No, that track doesn't contain the music I'm talking about.

you're right... there is a slight hint of it in the middle but it's mixed with other instruments. Reminds me in MOS when he was doing his first flight in the movie it was the contrary; there was additional instruments in the movie that were not in the official ''flight'' track

I'm pretty sure the 1:00 minute mark on "Black And Blue" is when [BLACKOUT]Bats hits Supes with the Kryptonite grenade[/BLACKOUT]

Beautiful Lie (3:47)
Their War Here (4:34)
Blood Of My Blood (4:25)
Vigilante (3:53)
New Rules (4:02)
The Red Capes Are Coming (3:31)
May I Help You, Mr. Wayne? (3:27)
Day Of The Dead (4:01)
Must There Be A Superman? (3:58)
Do You Bleed? (4:36)
They Were Hunters (2:45)
Problems Up Here (4:25)
Black And Blue (8:30)
Fight Night (4:20)
Tuesday (4:00)
Is She With You? (5:46)
This Is My World (6:23)
Men Are Still Good (The Batman Suite) (14:03)

I’m almost certain that this is the correct chronological order. The last half of “New Order” isn’t used in the film (and is just a repeat, it seems, of the end of “Vigilante.” Not sure what the reason was behind that.) “The Red Capes Are Coming” is a combination of at least two separate cues, but it’s more or less in film order so not a big deal. “They Were Hunters” also sounds a little different than what’s in the film. Other tracks are also mixed differently and are not the final film versions.

Thank you! This is exactly what I came here for. One thing though, I don't think you have "Blood Of My Blood" in the right spot. I'm pretty sure that track is when Lex begins the Doomsday process on the crashed ship. I think that places it somewhere between "Day Of The Dead" and "Problems Up Here" but I can't recall exactly which point of the movie that scene takes place.

I take that back. After listening to it a few times I think you're right. It sounds like the track probably takes place during the kryptonite recovery and desert scenes. The title of the track was throwing me off.

ramin djawadi would be a good replacement if Zimmer is done

Even though i'm not fan of the movie and OST, Beautiful lie fit the opening scene perfectly.
