BvS Hans Zimmer & Tom Holkenborg scoring Batman v Superman - Part 2

I will say I always wanted somebody different scoring these movies. Even though Zimmer did an admirable job with Man of Steel, I was ready for something completely different after Nolan's trilogy.

I do wonder what Junkie would have done if left completely to his own devices. I just think Zimmer has played a little too much in this superhero world and is starting to become ever so slightly stale.

I kinda agree with you there.

Hopefully Zimmers not asked to do the other DC cinematic universe movies i.e Wonder Woman or Aquaman. But he's a strong bet to be back for Justice League.

Yeah and after watching Hans and Junkie talk about scoring the film, they almost seem exhausted and a tad bereft of doing the property so I'd rather they take the back seat for a while.

I gave the score a listen. It was ok. Not feeling it as much as the MOS one.

I adore this score, seriously. Bought the Deluxe Edition yesterday after listening to it all weekend for free on YouTube.

First CD I've bought in years!

Beautiful Lie (3:47)
Their War Here (4:34)
Blood Of My Blood (4:25)
Vigilante (3:53)
New Rules (4:02)
The Red Capes Are Coming (3:31)
May I Help You, Mr. Wayne? (3:27)
Day Of The Dead (4:01)
Must There Be A Superman? (3:58)
Do You Bleed? (4:36)
They Were Hunters (2:45)
Problems Up Here (4:25)
Black And Blue (8:30)
Fight Night (4:20)
Tuesday (4:00)
Is She With You? (5:46)
This Is My World (6:23)
Men Are Still Good (The Batman Suite) (14:03)

I’m almost certain that this is the correct chronological order. The last half of “New Order” isn’t used in the film (and is just a repeat, it seems, of the end of “Vigilante.” Not sure what the reason was behind that.) “The Red Capes Are Coming” is a combination of at least two separate cues, but it’s more or less in film order so not a big deal. “They Were Hunters” also sounds a little different than what’s in the film. Other tracks are also mixed differently and are not the final film versions.

Same here. I got myself the CD (2 disc collectors edition) and also got the album on Apple Music. It's really awesome.

Overall I liked the themes and thought they worked in the movie mostly. Lex's theme does feel out of place the first time you hear it but works better the 2nd time. I actually really liked the way you heard the somewhat lighter half of Batman's theme as [BLACKOUT] the Bats lifted him out of the well[/BLACKOUT] and then the heavier more bombastic percussive part as [BLACKOUT]he looked up to see Superman and Zod while holding the little girl who he had just rescued[/BLACKOUT]. The way it hit at that moment almost reminded me of Star Wars. It felt a bit like Vader's theme and in conjunction with the look on his face you almost felt like it was the birth of this truly cynical and dark take on the character. That aspect I enjoyed. I think WW's theme is fantastic and I hope Patty keeps some version of it even if she uses a different composer. It was pure excitement and energy both times it kicked in and I think it fits the badass that Gal has created really nicely. Plus I think it's kind of awesome that a character so important to women has a theme created so masterfully by a female cellist. I know that kind of thing isn't important to everyone but I just feel it's a nice thing. I do however agree that maybe Zimmer should take a break. I would be interested to see what Junkie can come up with on his own.

I thought the score was alright but I felt it could've used some fine tuning along with the editing. There are times when it would get loud and broad when it needed to be more quiet and subtle (like when we get a shot of the Batsuit and the music goes all DUN DUN DUN or we get a loud guitar riff over a picture of WW that feels out of place aside from the fact that its her theme).

What was the track played when Bruce arrives in Metropolis via helicopter?

'This Is My World' is pretty emotional piece of music. I've also adopted it as my Lois and Clark theme for BvS because they don't have a specific theme.

I absolutely love Junkie's Batman theme. It's my favorite Batman theme yet and that is saying something.

"Is She With You" is my favorite track on the album. I hope that's WW official theme in her solo movie. Sounds like something that would have appeared on the '300' soundtrack , which works for WW.

It would work as the JL theme too. It plays when Bruce looks on the USB I think. Very funky cue. Gets the excitement going.

I think it was also the track played during the JL cameos...

I loved all three - Lex, Batman and JL/Wonder Woman themes. Distinctive and recognizable.

The soundtrack is one of the first albums I have listened to as an album, in years. Now, as I have no immediate frame of reference, as I played it on Youtube, does anybody know the name of the track that plays when Batman/Wonder Woman open the files? I would search for it, but, I am too tired to spin the whole album again(I had it playing as I wrote and worked, today.)

It's not on the OST. It's basically an alternate riff of Wonder Woman's theme from "Is She With You?"

I couldn't stand the batman theme when it first released, but listening to it on its own recently I've found myself really enjoying Men Are Still Good. Especially when it really gets going.

This score has really grown on me. The Batman theme especially. Hated it at the beginning but now it feels so much like Batman.

Unfortunately it is time for Zimmer to move on. You can tell he was bored with Batman V Superman. He's done great work in the genre from the Nolan trilogy, Man of Steel and I even liked some of the amazing spider-man. It's in Junkie's hands now. Those who wanted zimmer gone for Junkie have their wish. He's not even in the same ball park as Hans.

I don't think it's that he's bored. He's just run out of ideas.

He was associated with comic book movie genre for a long time, it's not a question of getting bored with Batman V Superman, he felt he could not contribute anything more (creatively speaking), I don't blame him.

I mean, after Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Man of Steel and Batman V Superman, he needs to focus elsewhere.
