The Dark Knight Harley Quinn

Kristen Bell or Rachael McAdams are both good choices. Kristen Bell wanting to play her makes that even sweeter! Somone who loves the character!

Do boxing fists on springs pop out of those things? :wow:

I know some might hate me for it, but I absolutely loathe and detest the character of Harley Quinn. It was a tolerable evil for the occasionally campy BTAS, but I simply can't imagine a Joker the likes of DKR, Arkham Asylum or The Killing Joke hanging out with another clown-girl insistent on calling him "puddin'", precisely the reason why she will not, nor is supposed to be in TDK.
I'm in total agreement. Furthermore, I'd like to say that anyone who likes Harley Quinn doesn't understand The Joker at all. The Joker is a man who has killed off countless henchmen for screwing up LITTLE things. Joker tells you he wants red spraypaint and you bring him maroon - you're dead. Yet here's Harley Quinn, some annoying woman who won't for the life of her shut the hell up, botches his plans left and right, yet he keeps her around? Completely illogical. If writers were true to his character, Harley would have had a bullet in her head after day one. The ONLY reason the character exists is because Paul Dini created some character that he was in love with, and because he and Bruce Timm were running the animated series, Dini crammed his character into every Joker episode after her first appearance. It's a bad character whose creator clearly has no concept of what the Joker truly is.

Also, I'd like to add that if Christopher Nolan feels that Dick Grayson/Robin would be too campy, it would be a completely hypocritical slap in the face were he to use Harley Quinn, whose camp-factor is significantly larger than Robin's.

redundant? :huh::huh::huh:

Yes. You pay 10 bucks on a movie, and then walk out. They don't care if you see all of it, or just the opening credits-you've already paid for the ticket.

I would very much like to see Harley, but not until the 3rd movie. Let Joker do his own thing in TDK, establish his presence. Then hopefully TDK will end with Joker put into Arkham, where Dr. Quinzel is assigned to him, just like this rumor is saying. It would be a great cliffhanger-type ending, almost on par with the Joker card at the end of Begins. Then in the 3rd movie, she's fallen for him and helps break him out.

I love the character of Harley, she brings a great dynamic to Joker, and she could work fantastically on screen under Nolan's guidance. There is no reason to be concerned that she is too campy or cartoonish, because Nolan wouldn't allow for such a portrayal, just like he's not portaying Joker in such a way. If he brings her into his trilogy, he will do so in a way that fits the tone of his movies.

Furthermore, it would be a strong testament to Joker's "super-insane" cunning that he is able to brainwash the psychiatrist assigned to treat him into a obsessive groupie who embraces his abuse just for the occasional display of affection. Evocative in a way of Charles Manson. Not to mention that it would be nice to have Joker interacting with an established character instead of characters made up for the movies (I'm looking at you, Ms. Dawes).

Hopefull Rachel McAdams was actually auditioning for a cameo as Harley, that will be expanded into a large role in the 3rd movie.

VERY nice point when you mentioned Manson. I never thought of it that way.

After seeing that cover with her tied up in the crime scene tape, it reminded me of a pic of Harl and it hit me.....

"She's hot. She's now. She's Harl."

seems like you dont understand harley..
and the fact is the joker has tryed to kill her just as many times as he has tryed to kill Batman..

he only comes back for her when he needs her.. then tryes to kill her..
she is usefull but also in the way..
Like when he was lead to belive he had a brain tumor.. he went back to harley to get some children..

Not exactly. There's something, at least within the movie verse, that rings true.

Think about it for a minute. Yes, Joker will kill you for whatever reason, or for no reason, just because that's how he rolls. But what do all his henchmen, those who would dedicate their lives to his cause, all have in common? That's right. That good ol' "Y" chromosome. In some small way, it'd be a slap in the face to Bats, because some sick freak like Joker can keep a woman who's desperately and hopelessly devoted to him, where Batman, or even Bruce, can't hold a steady girlfriend for more than a few months? It'd be just another piece taken in this psychological game of chess.

Also, I'd like to add that if Christopher Nolan feels that Dick Grayson/Robin would be too campy, it would be a completely hypocritical slap in the face were he to use Harley Quinn, whose camp-factor is significantly larger than Robin's.

Not entirely. Again, there's a difference between a psycho girlfriend, and a young boy in tights. Call it sexist, whatever. It is what it is.

This is a post I made at BOF about how Harley could be done in the Nolan-universe:

"Dr. Quinn"?? I hope he means Dr Harleen Quinzel cos she's isn't "Quinn" til she becomes in spell of Mr J.

I view harley is joker's version of catwoman... if that makes sense.

I understand Harley fine, it's just a ridiculous concept for the Joker. He has no patience for anyone or anything other than himself. He and his plans are his number one priority, and Harley screws over both all the time by being a complete moron. She is and always will be a completely nonsensical character.

it really depends on how they're gonna characterize Harley, specially this is Nolanverse we're talking about. for all we know she could just be some lab coat with the ID tag "Dr Quinzel".

She dossent scrw up his plans.. there are plenty of storyes where she takes his plans and go beyond.. and joker gets pissed and tryes to kill her..

then finds out that Harley and Ivy have changed places.. and .... well that was one of them..

I think you're missing the whole point of the Joker/Harley relationship. Harley is fascinated by Joker; his mystery, his celebrity, his danger. She's totally in love with him and wants nothing more than to please him.

The Joker is, of course, an ego maniac. Can we all agree with that? Therefore, what would he want more than a number one fan worshiping him and kissing his ass all the time? To Joker, Harley is a pet, an object, someone to manipulate and use for his own benefit... It's her obsession with him that he likes, which is why he keeps her around.

There is no reason to accuse people of not understanding the Joker if they like Harley Quinn, especially of all people Paul Dini. Just a suggestion if you want people to take your opinion seriously. There are many fans of the Joker who appreciate Harley Quinn, and your opinion on the subject is not a litmus test for whether someone understands the Joker. To me it just sounds liek the relationship between Joker and Harley goes over your head.

The reason that Nolan will not bring in Robin is because the notion of Batman bringing along a comparatively drastically inexperienced person, and just a teeanger on top of that, to face mob criminals and psychopathic serial killers is absolutely insane to the point of ridiculousness. It has nothing to do with campiness, and everything to do with the fact that Batman would have to be a tremendously irresponsible and delusional fool to do such a thing. He is a grown man who spent nearly a decade training himself to become what he is, and he is supposed to endanger the life of a teen with circus gymnastics training just because he showed him a few moves for a couple of months?

Harley Quinn is in no way comparable to Robin. And as for campiness, of course she could be portrayed in a campy way. So could the Joker. And Batman himself. But Nolan is not going that route, so if he brought in Harley, he would interpret her in a way that is not campy in any way whatsoever. So this really is no reason to not want her in the movies.

id actually prefer her as selina, not that i wat her for selina, but id like her better as catwoman than harley

I'm always going to go for Kristen Bell. Blond and cute to the boot in a sexy way.

I still can't get past SMG as Buffy. Even in THE GRUDGE, but that's just me.

It's difficult to see past that alright, but given another iconic role, actors can get over that. Patrick Stewart is now Picard and Profesor X, after all (not that I'm comparing the two in terms of acting ability).

I agree on that. Believe me, I know the area well enough. Kind of reminds me of John Travolta before he did Pulp Fiction.

SMG in Pulp Fiction. Interesting...lol

So who do we have up on the list of possibles?

Rachel McAdams
Sarah Michelle Gellar
Kristen Bell
Brittany Murphy

They'd be the front runners alright. Brittany would be a good choice - loved her work in Sin City.

there's definitely a word you're looking for, but it most certainly is not redundant.
