The Dark Knight Harley Quinn

I think they can make a believable Harley Quinn character for this movie. They can portray her simply as a psychiatrist who is morbidly fascinated by the Joker and serves as his accomplice, omitting all the camp aspects of the character (such as wearing a red costume, wielding a huge mallet, calling Joker "Puddin" etc.)

Hi I'm new here and had seen AOTS announce that Harley would be at the end of TDK per Nolan. Being new, the board wouldn't let me start a new thread about it yesterday. Oh well, I see someone saw it too and I'm jumping on to his post. :ninja:

I'm a long time reader, this would be my 2nd post as I posted on another Harley posting.

Many points have been made about Harley, there are those that don't like her because she was created from the Animated series and the others that love her cuz she does fit perfectly as a Joker side-kick. I have faith in Nolan, many people went nuts when they heard that he had Scarecrow in the first one (way before the movie was released) as he was a stupid looking character in the cartoons. Nolan approached that villian appropriately and gave him enough screen time, he can do the same with HQ.

With Harley, she's not going to be the same campy Harley that we know cuz the Joker is not going to be silly, this is a menancing and cruel Joker, so I can only be excited what Nolan will do with Harley. I think maybe just maybe he'll get her to say "Mr J." once just as a nod to the HQ fans but I'm not concerned at all.

Now I must say there are a bit of actresses that have the look, and Harley should be a young hottie actress but it's not all about the look, she should fit what Nolan wants Harley to be like. I do like Bell cuz of her enthusiasm to play the character. :) And again, the scoop said at the end of TDK, so she's not going to take away for TDK's story, like the Joker was mentioned in the last five minutes of BB. Maybe I''l get to see who Harley is, as I'm an extra (I live in Chicago) and will be filming at the end of June. Oh my eyes will be on the look out for Harley. ;)

i love the character of harley but i personally think this is a case of the joker card at the end of begins save her for a twist at the end as doctor harlenn. then in the third have her the one who busts the joker out of the court room while he scars dent

harley adds another level to the character that is the joker, the love hate relationship can be played brilliantly with some light humor and twist is in to the whole disturbing aspects

You guys cant be nit-picking who you want in or out of the batman universe (ex. Robin, Harley Quinn, etc.) because you sound JUST like the studio execs. If the same creative team is behind this as they were in "Begins", I'm all for it and I'm sure it will work.

harley should be a muscle chick to beat the **** out of Batman... that would be an awesome thing to see

 No offense to you, but to me it makes very little sense for some muscular chick beating the crap out of the most skilled combatant on earth. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of including the character of Harley Quinn in The Dark Knight, just not this version.

I hate how people are saying Harley woulnt fit in Nolan's universe, we've only seen one Batman film from him and he stated the The Dark Knight will be going in a different direction. So people need to stop thinking that Harley will be a direct copy from the comics/tv show. And by adding Harley we can get to know the Joker even more. I mean somebody has to love a man with a ****ed up face like his....

Yeah, I'm a newbie. :cwink:

But, as much as I love Harley, I think that Nolan would have to do a very toned down version, costume-wise. Her character would have to be more like she is in the comics, more vile, quirky and psychotic, and not as campy and comical. The character of Harleen Quinzel needs to be smart (because she is), strong and... well, normal. This is what makes her break with reality more convincing.

As for her costume, I always thought it would be a good idea for her to get the idea of an outrageous costume from Batman. Say Dr. Quinzel is attending a fund raiser for Arkham. She runs into Bruce Wayne and they end up talking about psychopaths. Harleen says something about how not all psychopaths are looked down on, take Batman, for instance. A grown man running around in a huge bat costume? What does that say about his mental stability?

Then Bruce defends it by saying something about the outlandish costume is maybe a way for him (Batman) to remain completely anonymous while allowing himself to become absorbed into that persona. To which Harleen could say something like, "In other words, the more ridiculous the better?" They laugh, have a drink, and the seeds are planted in her head. That would explain the costume in a more realistic way--once her mind snaps, she remembers that conversation and dissolves Harleen into Harley.

When it comes to actresses, the only actress I'd support in the role is Rachel McAdams. Everyone else = no. Sorry, fanboys. :yay:

If the movie ended with Harley Quinn, I'd go crazy (in a good way). She's one of my favorite characters.

I don't want Harley to have big part in The Dark Knight, because I want The Joker to be established first. After that, bring on Harley! I'm sure that Nolan could do it without too much campyness. I believe that the "Mad Love" story is dark enough to fit into these movies.

look she is an improper fraction the top is bigger than the bottom

I really hope Harley makes to screen in some shape or form. Just pleeeease don't make her a goth, she should be HOT and 'girly' but twisted looking as well. I can really see her becoming a classic Batman character on screen, an audience favorite.

any other classic psycho chicks from cinema?

I just caught part of that movie The Starter Wife on USA, and Gigi Egley(Chiana from Farscape) was on it in a scene. She would make the perfect Harley Quinn.

Mhm. Yeah, that and it's made of plaster.

Just sayin'. :oldrazz:

The plaster makes its kinky.

Cheesy 80's porno music starts to play. StorminNorman de-robes. Plaster anatomically correct replica of Paul Bettany is properly lubed.

I would very much like to see Harley, but not until the 3rd movie. Let Joker do his own thing in TDK, establish his presence. Then hopefully TDK will end with Joker put into Arkham, where Dr. Quinzel is assigned to him, just like this rumor is saying. It would be a great cliffhanger-type ending, almost on par with the Joker card at the end of Begins. Then in the 3rd movie, she's fallen for him and helps break him out.

I love the character of Harley, she brings a great dynamic to Joker, and she could work fantastically on screen under Nolan's guidance. There is no reason to be concerned that she is too campy or cartoonish, because Nolan wouldn't allow for such a portrayal, just like he's not portaying Joker in such a way. If he brings her into his trilogy, he will do so in a way that fits the tone of his movies.

Furthermore, it would be a strong testament to Joker's "super-insane" cunning that he is able to brainwash the psychiatrist assigned to treat him into a obsessive groupie who embraces his abuse just for the occasional display of affection. Evocative in a way of Charles Manson. Not to mention that it would be nice to have Joker interacting with an established character instead of characters made up for the movies (I'm looking at you, Ms. Dawes).

Hopefull Rachel McAdams was actually auditioning for a cameo as Harley, that will be expanded into a large role in the 3rd movie.

It would be a perfect (too perfect to pass up, in fact) counter to the "Sons of Batman"/imposter-vigilante angle.

Batman and Joker would both have acolytes swept up in the "war" going on in Gotham.
