Harry Potter - The Complete Series Thread

Dumbledore is clearly gay in the books. When people seem shocked, it reminds me of those shocked that Renly, the man who has the rainbow guard, is gay. :funny:

I never thought of him as gay, so much as very flamboyant lol

In the DH book it's made pretty obvious he was gay or had a hard on for grindelwald.

During production of HBP Kloves wrote a scene were Dumbledore told Harry about a girl he crushed on his youth. Rowling made him cut it. She should have just come out and said it in the books rather than waiting.

I always took Dumbledore to be A-sexual. And even today I don't see him as gay. He doesn't strike me as the type that prefers a specific gender. He seems like the type that would be bi-sexual. He could probably have loved a girl or a man, but grindelwald really caught his attention and that was his first true love.

I haven't read any of them since 07, to be honest. So, my memory of the books is a bit hazy, at best. Imma re-read them eventually.

Crazy theory about how it could have ended:

Eh, I like the actual ending more.

Me too. Introducing immortality into the mix that late in the game even as cruelty to punish Harry is just not my cup of tea. It's mean spirited and just not necessary.

That would be the cruelist victory he could have achieved.

Exactly, and what a downer of an ending. Harry goes through so much suffering...only to go through more?

When are they going to release extended editions of every movie :o I am tired of seeing new box sets pop up and nothing new added.

Likely never. WB asked Cuaron, Newell, and Yates if they would like to do extended editions of their films when they was released the ultimate bluray releases, and all three declined and said they were happy with the films as they were.

some people are probably wondering how to read my username in other forums, probably only people here can read it. :D

J.K. Rowling to release new story on Halloween!

As part of Pottermore’s Trick or Treat Celebration leading up to Halloween, it has been revealed that on October 31 J.K. Rowling will release a new 1,700-word story!

The story, which was teased by Pottermore in this post last Saturday, will feature none other than Dolores Umbridge. From Pottermore:

"Umbridge is not only one of the most malicious Potter characters, [but] she is [also] the only person other than Lord Voldemort to leave a permanent physical scar on Harry. The new exclusive J.K. Rowling content provides a rich, 1,700-word back story about Umbridge’s life filled with many new details, as well as Rowling’s revealing first-person thoughts and reflections about the character."

A Cuckoo's Calling did very well.

J.K. never intended to stop writing material for the Harry Potter universe and some of the material that gets released on Pottermore is material cut by the editor and from her preexisting notes. Besides this isn't the first story she's released since DH. She released that short story about Sirius and James having a run in with muggle police a few years ago.

Oh, It was a serious question. I think Casual Vacancy wasn't received too well? Idk, this interests me...but it's about Umbridge....so...

A Casual Vacancy was awful from what I've heard. The plot didn't even sound all that compelling.

As for Umbridge, I was always curious about her and what became of her post DH. Idk whether this new story will deal with any of that (it's only 1700 words after all), but it could interesting.

Not a huge fan of the series but that is a very nice set. I love the book holders, like they used with The Dark Knight Trilogy Ultimate Collector's Edition.

Remember when Harry's eyes weren't the same color as they were in the books, yeah that really ****ing bothers me.

Take it up with Dan's eyes. They tried green contacts in one scene (last scene of PS), but the contacts bothered his eyes. Some people just can't wear contacts. Their eyes essentially reject them, and it ranges from uncomfortable to painful.
