Superman Returns Has the 3rd act 'grown' on you?

Ay....Buggs at it again.

Does it ever end with him? Can anyone who has seen the future let me know? Thanks.

Pickle El: The future dudelove?

Catma (High pitched voice) In the year 2000... in the year 2000!

dudelove: Bryan Singer will be driving randomly down the street, when at a cross walk he will see Buggs crossing the street. Finding ample oppurtunity to rid the world of his stupidity, Singer hits the accelerator and runs over Buggs, unfortunately, Singers car is hit in the process. Finally regaining conciousness, Singer sees that Buggs has survived and is armed. Buggs starts yelling out completely wrong and bizare facts while trying to shoot Singer. Singer runs away but Buggs gives chase, Singer runs into a pawn shop where he waits and ambushes Buggs, they get in a fistfight and Singer compltely beats the living crap out of Buggs. However the owner knocks out Singer. When they both wake up they are tied to chairs in a basement, with bondage gags in their mouths. The owner of the pawn shop introduces them to Zed. Zed plays a game of einee meniee miney mo to decide who he's going to buttrape first. It lands on Buggs. The hillbillies bring out a gimp to watch on Singer while they have their way with Buggsy. Singer, as if a higher power was looking after him, broke free of the rope tying him to the char and knocked out the Gimp. He goes to leave but decides to save Buggs because no one, not even Buggs deserves that type of torture. Singer and Buggs actually make peace and Singer goes on to make MOS.

Catman: In the year 2000... in the year 2000...

Pickle El: Unfortunately thing go from bad to worse for Buggs just as he he leaves the pawn shop he gets knocked out. He wakes up in the trunk of somebodys car. The trunk opens and it's Kevin Spacey in a black suit. Spacey then beats the crap out of Buggs and ties him to a chair in warehouse. Spacey then walks over to a radio and turns it on. The 70's hit "Stuck in the Middle With You" begins to play and Spacey produces a straight razor. Sadistically Spacey dances along to the song and inches closer and closer to Buggs. He then hacks Buggs' ear off. Seemingly taking alittle break Kevin Spacey takes a walk outside to his car and grabs a can of Gas, he goes back into the warehouse and starts dancing again this time dousing Buggs in petrol. He then pulls out a lighter and burns Buggs out of our misery.

Since buying the DVD and seeing the movie a few more times, the entire film has actually grown on me. I somehow ended up watching two times this evening (don't ask) and it managed to keep my interest just as much both times. This is definitely a movie that gets better on repeated viewings. Singer is a subtle filmmaker, and a lot of things jump out at you that you might not have noticed the first time. But one thing that is clear to me is that Singer has made a good Superman film. When it first came out, I was a little disappointed as I was hoping for a post-Crisis billionaire Lex and I didn't like the kid. But if you take the movie on its own terms, it's very good indeed. Brandon Routh, Kate Bosworth and Kevin Spacey all give fine performances as Superman, Lois and Lex. And guess what? The suit looks great onscreen. It seems to me that Bryan Singer made the movie he wanted to make, and even though I still have a few fanboy quibbles, overall it's a very affectionate, respectful take on Superman. That said, I think they can do a sequel that will knock SR out of the park.

The 3rd act is good but imo the quality of the movie reaches its peak in the first hour.

hate it. the character arcs work very well....but overall the look/feel/action isnt good.

I think this movie will be a remembered better than t was recieved. I don't know about the rest of you but I hated X-Men when I first saw it, I thought it was boring and dragged, then I saw X-Men 2 and I loved it, then I rewatched the first one and loved that as well. I realised that in the first you are waiting for action that doesn't come and that leaves you pretty ****ed off with the movie, but the action is present in the second movie and when you re-watch the first movie the lack of action is now a non-issue. And I think the same will happen when this sequal is realeased, plus there will be lest you-know-what fanboys *****ing that you-know-who wasn't catched and disliking any thing new that doesn't star him. (BY the way I love you-know-what but it's fans reaction was pretty petty)

Of course I watch Conan! I'm just not sure why you had me play La Bamba!

God. These people are still in the SR Forums. I thought you'd all be gone by now.

Kudos to the guy who made the Comic Book Guy reference to the whiner posters here. It's so sad and true. I love it when they nitpick the ***** out of this movie, because it reinforces this stereotype and increases the chances of them carking it from over-eating twinkies. I like that.

So keep scoffing down the pastries and burgers friends. I hear there's a new Star Trek film coming out. Oh my! They better tread carefully because there's an army out there waiting for them.

^^ Just two people I've found to be consistently negative since day 1 of the SR Hype.

I was thinking of having General Zod as La Bamba, but I thought I'd rather use a poster, and because your avatar keeps flashing Zod in my face I just went with you.

Just curious, but why didnt you think he anything for the rest of the movie?
Oh it's not that he did nothing ,wrong wording on my part .The plane scene of course is exciting and good action. It's just for me the third act felt different because saving Lois and family wasn't just his "duty" it was bigger than that . The third act wasn't just 'Yeah ,Superman saved the day' we all know he can . Bryan Singer and the writers took the story somewhere unexpected with a lot of emotion .A lot of people as evidence on this board didn't like it . I like that there was a different tone going on I was fully invested in the story and loved the movie.

I love the 3rd act it the best 45 minutes or so of the movie.

My favorite parts being Supermans speech to Jason and Superman re-engerzing himself/lifting NK

Love love this movie

Rock on Superman and Bryan Singer

Oh right i misunderstood what you were getting at. I totally agree, i like that the 3rd act went somewere unexpected and different from from other super hero movies, it was a very emotional 3rd act as well.

Not exactly, since I enjoyed it 100% soince the first time I saw it.

Yeah, me too. I already loved it. It can't really grow on me any more.

Well i've gone from just liking it to actually loving it so it has definately grown on me. I liked the fact that Superman was in mortal danger for almost the entire 3rd act as well.

So it's growing on us like a piece of kryptonian crystal in the sea

Come on, buggs. This is the discussion on the internet about a movie, not a debate on human morals.

The first time i saw this movie in the theaters i was somewhat disappointed becuz it wasnt really what i expected. Then i saw it in IMAX3d and it got a lot better, so i bought the dvd and i watched it about 2 times already but it seriously does get a lot better the more you watch it. Its definitely a pretty good movie, people just bash it becuz it wasnt some amazing action film. This is definitely a movie that gets better the more you watch it. cant wait til the sequel

Thats a definite factor about this movie, it definately does get better on repeat viewings and i like movies that can do that, gives them much more re-watchability.
