Have Fangirls Caught Up With Fanboys?

It does make me laugh that as a fangirl who's attended so many movies geared towards to guys who act like this whenever a hot girl is on screen:

You may not think you act like this, but take it from a lifelong fangirl - but you do. :cwink:

...then act like something is wrong with these girls when they act the same way.

Whoops, this whole time I always thought you were a guy and not a chick. My bad.

twilight interevention ROFL
http://www.slashfilm.com/2009/11/23/lol-twilight-intervention/

what i find sad is that all of these people are like in their 20s or older but they are acting like 12 year old girls.

It's not nearly as sad as someone feeling the need to pull a dumb stunt like that. What a jerk.

I read Twilight, I hated it. But I have no desire to 'educate' their fans or play stupid tricks on them. Just let them have their fun. It's not hurting anyone. There are plenty of other movies I want to see right now, the fact that this is so popular is really none of my concern.

If this had happened with a TDK screening there would have been riots.

I would kill for a pair of Bruce Campbell underoos. Kill for them!

Yeah, that's seriously *****etastic.

No kidding. I'm not a huge anime fan and I do think its weird that people want to cosplay as these characters, but I would never for a second try to stop them or belittle them for it. It isn't for me, but I'm sure a lot of my hobbies and interests aren't for them either. As a matter of fact most of my friends think it's so weird I like comics.

Its a *****ey job but somebody had to do it.

i agree it was too far, especially since he didn't even show them anything, least he could of done was show them another movie lol

No one had to do it. It only made the anti-Twilight people look pathetic.

look, I hate twilight more than pretty much anything but

how would you like it if (although I love TDK and saw it twice in theaters and have it on DVD/Bluray) all the TDK fanboys got psyched for some new footage and had a nolan intervention or whatnot? that prank was completely uncalled for, and for once, I feel bad for twilghters or whatever they're called. and what danoyse and SuperFerret said

Exactly. Like I said, I've read Twilight, and I hated it. Those are not vampires.

But I'm not going to lecture people who like it. The kid I got assigned for the Adopt-an-Angel holiday gift program at work asked for Twilight stuff. Am I going to be obnoxious and send some essay about why Twilight sucks and why they shouldn't like it? No, I checked with some fans on the New Moon thread what would be a good gift, got some great suggestions, and I'm going to get this kid a nice present. It's not hurting anyone.

By the way - he's not even right about vampires not being good looking. Anne Rice's vampires were always written as beautiful. Anyone who's read Stephen King's Salem's Lot knows that Barlow was extremely good-looking, not that silly growling Nosferatu thing they had in the movie. The TruBlood vampires are good-looking. Sexy vampires did not originate with Stephanie Meyer.

Don't forget Bela "Sex Machine" Lugosi.*

*SuperFerret neither confirms or denies rumors that Lugosi was called the "Sex Machine".

This is true. I thought that was a weird change. Barlow wasnt monstrous.

Still, LOVE Salem's Lot.

In terms of boxoffice power, I think New Moon is the high point in the series. The majority of female audiences will get tired of it sooner or later. The books and movies aren’t considered high quality and over saturation will do them in eventually.

I second danoyse and san15's comments. I hate it, but i take joy in knowing it'll get old like everything else

Agreed

I dont see why it's so difficult to let others enjoy what they do (in this case Twilight). I personally am not crazy by it, but it doesnt bother me that others like it. It's nice to show others the same respect u'd like them to show u.

Are fangirls the reason why SDCC 4-day memberships are already sold out? :oldrazz: I think there was some riff-raff against the Twilight fans last year over something at Comic Con.

At this rate, in two years people are gonna have to book SDCC two years in advance. :lmao: And at this rate, it's unlikely I'll ever go to SDCC ever again. :oldrazz: I'm not the kind of person who books something without knowing a lick of who'll be there.

Avatar and New Moon shared a hall. So, people were upset when all the fangirls showed up first. You snooze you loose.

Ah yes, Hall H seatkeeping. Good times. :funny:

Last time I went I sat through a Focus Features panel to get to the Pixar panel...but thanks to that I got to sit 3 rows from friggin' Neil Gaiman (he called us "sensible people!") as well as getting a Coraline poster that Neil and Henry Selick signed personally for me! So I guess it wasn't a waste of seatkeeping. :funny:
