Don't think I like Mockingbird using guns. Not only does it make arrows a bit redundant, but it gets a bit Punishery. Bucky Cap occasionally using one is one thing. But to be handing out firearms to half the Avengers team is a bit more military/police than superheroes are supposed to be IMO. Given all the technologically based heroes and villains, we should be seeing a helluva lot more wrist mounted mini neuroinhibitor pulses or something for heroes like Mockingbird is she isn't relying entirely on close quarter weapons.

That preview shows plenty of Hawkeye's arrows (the regular, pointy kind) nailing dudes in the back and other areas that house vital organs. You either have to get used to the fact that everyone at Marvel casually kills without a second thought now or just give up on Marvel's comics altogether.

I just get a little bored with all the guns. If I want bad guys taken down by hails of bullets with little regard for their lives, then I'll start picking up GIJOE again

I'm picking this up as well. The preview in Enter the Heroic Age was solid, I love Lopez's art, and I like what I've seen of the relationship between Hawkeye and Mockingbird. Also curious about whom Mockingbird was talking to behind Clint's back in the Enter the Heroic Age story.

I hope the moral isn't going to be, "she is related to the one that Mockingbird once allowed to die for raping her", because I can do without a lecture about how allowing a rapist to die (not outright killing him, Punisher style) is so horrendous that it deserves lecture. I honestly always found it so bizarre how poorly Hawkeye reacted to Bobbi about that way back, especially since he used to perform outright acts of crime or terrorism for less reasons than avenging himself; he just found Black Widow too hot to resist.

Spider-Man once outright killed a woman by punching her full force in the face (although, she deliberately wanted it to happen; call it "suicide by Spidey"), but Peter never feels remorse over this, and Wolverine never mentions it. Heck, I've never seen Parker offer much remorse for all-but-literally scaring Uncle Ben's killer to death. So I never bought how Bobbi's act was so terrible that she needed a holier than thou speech from Hawkeye, which strained their relationship. It would be especially silly now, considering Clint has slain no end of Hand ninja or Skrulls alongside Wolverine as Ronin simply because they were in his way. If anything, Clint should have been more irritated that he didn't get to pummel the creep himself.

But, comics were still quite misogynist even into the 80's; Ms. Marvel was practically time travel date raped by Marcus, and all the Avengers could do was coo about her being pregnant.

I don't like Mockingbird using a gun either, because it's rather redundant that she'd be using a firearm when her bf/partner is already using bow-and-arrow, and I'd much rather her being used as a close-combat melee specialist instead with her bo sticks. I'm also not very thrilled with Marvel's loose morale code among their superheroes; imo only selected superheroes like Punisher & Wolverine should have no qualms about killing, but once everybody start behaving the same way then there'd be no distinction among them, not to mention that it'd blur the line between killer and hero too much.

That's Bullseye's schtick, and it's unintentionally hilarious when a villain boasts like that, only to miss a whole lot literally every time he's ever fought Daredevil or any number of other heroes. I hope Hawkeye doesn't make a habit of saying it.

Although, the little mention of "no vitals hit, no casualties" does make me feel a lot better. I'm glad McCann included that.

I have to say, after reading New Avengers: The Reunion, I have a much better appreciation for the killing/not killing dynamic in this series now. If you're going to have superheroes killing people, this is the way to do it. Make it an actual part of the story and not just a random switch where suddenly a character who didn't kill--for whatever reason, including simply Comics Code regulations--is perfectly fine with killing.
