I would have loved it if Dominic West had taken the Mance job.

Was he offered it or in line to play it? That's a shame if so.

He was offered the role but filming in Iceland would have taken him from his kids for too long so he turned it down.
Aw, man. Are there any other characters he could play in the future? I'm a big fan of West.

He could make a great Euron Greyjoy.

Just read a possible justification of the Season 3 cover:

The slip cover holding the whole kit together is see-through plastic with the image of a dragon's shadow on it, so that when the box is on the shelf, it looks like a dragon flying over a stone monument. It's a great touch.

Understandable I guess. :csad::cmad:

With clear slip:

The white spine on one side and the see-thru spine on the other side is troublesome. If I arrange it like the past two seasons on my shelf the see-thru spine will be facing out which looks less than satisfactory. If I howver turn it so the white spine is facing out the back of the set will be seen and the words on the spine will be facing the opposite way to the past two seasons. Im not one to fuss over packagine, but this is slightly irritating. I will need to arrange the seasons right to left from now on. *First world problems, I know.*

Oh, and if anyone's curious:

That is the most plain ugly set I have seen for a show that is has so much more going for it especially in a season that is so bloody to have a set that is just pristine like that is dumb.

Aww, marvolo. I wish it fits somehow

Ohhh whatever will I do!?!?:p

Speaking of how plain it looks:

Its an odd mixture of ideas. The box is meant to resemble stone. the slip is clear with a dragon shadow. The interior is black with the images from the uninspiring character promotions of last season. And the inside image of the digipack is a random image in itself. All in all its pretty meh. Im just thankful its so cheap in price right now.

Looking at this season's symbol, I think it has two meanings, both of which tie into the theme of the similarities the Starks and Lannisters have.

The first is how the Lannisters are now moving more front and center for this series. At the end of Season One, the Starks were still clearly the main faction the story was going to focus on and largely in control of their own destiny, what with the King in the North and the capture of Jamie. Now, in the wake of the Red Wedding, the Starks are scattered, exiled, or dead, and seem to be in the "shadow" of the Lannisters, who hold the last recognized Stark heir in their paws. But that also means the Lannisters are how the ones with the target on their backs, and the fandom now knows that there may be no place more dangerous in the Game of Thrones than front and center.

Second, spoiler alert:
This Season is all about the Lannisters tasting the same bitter pain and despair as the Starks, and even being hilariously Lannistered the way they are infamous for by their own supposed allies. We've seen Ned Stark, the old Wolf, killed in a visceral and chaos creating fashion, and Tywin Lannister's about to meet a similar fate. We saw Robb Stark, the Young Wolf, killed by treachery and deceit by his allies at a wedding, and Joffrey's about to drink from the same cup. And Cersei's about to get a real sympathy with Cat, what with the falling into madness and rage at the loss of a child before her eyes. And both families will have Lord Commanders with dubious honor striving to redeem themselves, knowing they can't help their family anymore.

By the end of this Season, it'll be debate-able who's in a worse situation: the homeless but numerous and vengeful Starks or the restricted and imprisoned by their own squabble Lannisters.

I think everybody is being too hard on the set. I think it looks kinda awesome. Sometimes less is more

Baseless speculation, but S4 E10: A Cat of a Different Coat ? Too fan wanky?

The music that plays over the menu's for the season 3 blu-ray and dvd is The Rains of Castamere!

Yeah, the thing is. It's easy to conquer or seize power. But to keep the throne is very difficult.

The Lannisters may have won the Battle of Blackwater against Roebuck, but at what cost? They had to ally with the Tyrells. Because of this, they share the castle with the Tyrell family and share the rule with them. And the Tyrells are not honourable to a fault as Ned was.

People in this game almost always win battles at some kind of cost. Some kind of sacrifice.
