Woah! Robert has Targaryen blood??

Yes he does and you can tell in the books he hates that he does, but it also made his claim to the throne strong.

I laughed at all of them and then I got to the Cat and Robb one. :csad:

Go to Youtube and look up "Papa Frey Ft. Roose the Goose."

On the Targaryens:

Do we have anything on who ruled Westeros before the first Targaryens arrived?

Do we have anything on why the Targaryens turned their attention toward Westeros and not, say, Sothoryos?

His father's mother was a Targaryen. The founder of House Baratheon, Orys Baratheon, was one of Aegon the Conqueror's generals and is rumored to have been his bastard brother. He married the daughter of the last Storm King and took their sigil.

I've never read the books so, news to me! I've been thinking about getting them here lately but I'm just notoriously bad at starting to read something and taking forever to finishing it so I dunno if I actually ever would get through them

Yes we do.

Agrilac the Arrogant ruled all the Stormlands, the Gardner Kings ruled the Reach, Harren the Black ruled the Iron Islands and the Riverlands, Torrhen Stark ruled as King in the North, the Martells ruled Dorne.

The Targaryens took Westeros literally because it was the closest thing for them. Aenar Targaryen's daughter Daenys had a prophetic dream that Valyria would be destroyed so Aenar packed up his family, took five of their dragons and travelled to the Targaryen outpost on Dragonstone, which at the time was the westernmost point of the Valyrian empire. For about a few generations House Targaryen lived on Dragonstone with their dragons, the last of the Valyrian lords. But then Aegon came along and decided that he was going to create a new Valyria on Westeros.

Man, I wish there was some way we could have all that backstory done in live action. Hell, animation would work too, just as long as it got adapted somehow. It's insane how much history there is there

Well HBO do seem pretty keen to do a series about GRRM's "Dunk and Egg" prequel Novellas, which feature a lot of Targaryen history and a few wars that took place 90 years before GoT. They could go crazy with this stuff.

Exactly. It has a history as dense and rich as the Star Wars EU. I wanna see some of it some place damn it.

I'm the same way. However, I got sucked into the books and was reading 50+ pages per night. Got through the first 3 in a month. A Feast for Crows was more of a slog, some POVs aren't in the book (they're in ADWD since it occurs at the same time) and I started school again.

There's "Histories of Westeros" videos that explain some events from each of the Blu-Ray sets. I think they're on YouTube as well. It's animated with stills.

Yea but I want some actual stories. A miniseries, an animated movie, DTV movie, whatever. I've felt the same way about the SW EU for well over a decade now. It's just like with DC and their animated films, more companies should do stuff like that. Helps it seep into the public consciousness more than the novels

i think his great grandmother or grandfather was a Targ

exactly. to be precise, Aegon V (better known as Egg) had a daugther called Rhaelle, who married Robert's grandfather.

and Rhaelle's brother Jaeherys was the father of the Mad King and grandfather of Rhaegar, Viserys and Daenerys.

so, summing up, The Mad King was cousins with Robert's father. and Robert and Rhaegar were like 3rd cousins or something like that.

i hope i explained that well

ok on a side note, my aunt is the head of the "editorial sudamericana", a book publisher from Argentina and Latin America, and she told me that it is possible that Winds of Winter gets published this year or at the very long rate at first semester of 2015. i hope she is not just playing with my emotions  .

according to her, that "news" that the 6th book wasn't even near finish was a strategy for not having the fans ranting about it being published right now, and by stating that it will come at the end of 2015 or 2016, and then publishing it this year or the start of 2015, it would make GRRM look like he published the book before the "time he said" (2016).

i hope my aunt is right in this one.
very sorry for my bad english. :yay:

It's not happening. GRRM doesn't like fanfics, so no one else will ever write work set in his world. He and HBO have already shot down the idea of doing a prequel series on Robert's Rebellion, GRRM said most of the questions people have about it will be answered by the end of the books.

That part I believe. Some fans are really ****ing obnoxious about GRRM's pace. I don't like it, but constantly complaining and harassing him isn't going to make him write faster. I think it's possible TWOW comes out within the next 12 months, but I'll believe it when it's announced.

If GRRM intends on finishing his Dunk and Egg cycle then that leaves the possibility for the Blackfyre incursions, Dagon Greyjoy's rebellion, the attack on the She-Wolves of Winterfell, and I assume the War of the Ninepenny Kings on screen in some form, that all happened during Dunk's lifetime.

I'm just saying, I wanna ****ing see more damn it. When I get into a show or a book series or whatever, I just wanna see as much decently produced material as I can. Can't help it, even if it sucks, my curiosity still needs to be satiated lol

say more again and i will put you on an X and make you shut the **** up

So I guess you're excited for Lady Stoneheart this year? Me too. The set pics look great:
