It just doesn't have many of the main characters that were focussed on in the previous 3 books or that are focused on in the show. It's still a very good book just not related to the stories, primarily at least, that people wanted to read.

Not only that, but after Bk3, it seemed like we were really moving into the "end game" portion of the entire ASOFAI plot...but then not a whole lot happens in book four. I think a lot of it is more set up for the eventual climax, but after the awesomeness that was book 3, it just felt very stagnant. And it doesn't help that many of the characters you desperately want to see after Bk3 (in order to see what the hell happens to them) weren't in book four at all.

I know that you didn't ask me, but if you are interested in GoT related games allow me to suggest you should totally check the Crusader Kings 2 Mod "A Game of Thrones".

It is one of the best games i've played.
You can play Aegon's Conquest, the Conquest of Dorne, the original Dance of Dragons, Blackfyre Rebellion (both), Robert's Rebellion, Greyjoy's Rebellion, and War of the Five Kings.

This of course if you like Strategy-based games.

Well... There is a GoT modd for Medieval 2: Total War that takes place in the War of the Five Kings.

Also there is a submod called "Fire and Blood" which takes place an alternative timeline in which daenerys and khal drogo arrive and Robert and Ned are not dead. So s*** goes down lol.

They're already moving some of Dany's ADWD stuff to this season. Hopefully they cut a lot since only her last 2 ADWD chapters are even remotely tolerable.
